Dan Henderson Returns To UFC Against "Shogun" At UFC 139
Strikeforce light-heavyweight champion Dan Henderson has opted to return to the UFC ranks following his last Strikeforce win over Fedor Emelianenko. He has likely vacated his title to pursue UFC gold.
Set to spoil his return to the Octagon is former UFC light-heavyweight champion Mauricio “Shogun” Rua.
UFC 139 is set to take place on November 19th at the HP Pavilion in San Jose, California. With the original heavyweight title fight headliner between champ Cain Velasquez and Junior Santos moving from UFC 139 to UFC on FOX 1 the organization is likely looking for a replacement main event. The Henderson vs. Rua fight is a likely replacement for the slot.
Rua just took out Forrest Griffin in the UFC Rio co-main event; it was his first appearance and victory since losing his title to Jon Jones.
Henderson returns off the heels of his heavyweight victory over Fedor Emelianenko under the Strikeforce banner. At 41-years old Henderson was able to capture the Strikeforce crown with a punishing knockout victory over Rafael Feijao this past March at Strikeforce Columbus.
Both fighters will be looking to advance to title contention with a victory.

Nice, well that is of course if Shogun shows up healthy (such a stereotypical thing to say but its true). But to tell you the truth he didn’t look all that great against Forrest, he actually looked sluggish. If he shows up slow against a fast paced Hendo he’s gonna eat some bombs, and it might be the first time we see him go to sleep…

Gotta feel for strikeforce but we all saw it coming. Hendo has the grappling and of course his right hand, while Shogun has those brutal leg kick and punch combos.. But I see Hendo winning a UD.

Shogun has pretty good jiu jitsu dont expect an easy grappling fight for hendo. also his chin has looked a little shaky, dont be surprised if shogun tags him.

Put down the crack pipe, he is not way bigger, maybe an inch taller but both have relatively the same build, Feijao has a little thicker base.. But Shogun is a much more versatile and deadly striker.. A healthy Shogun is the one who nearly murdered Rampage, sorry but if he comes in shape and healthy he is going to fck Hendo up..
Feijoa did look more muscular coming into the fight, but Shogun is definitely more skilled and better techniques. Anybody that takes a clean shot to the side of the head w 4oz gloves are going to get rocked.. it’s who recovers quicker that wins the fight. This is going to be an incredible combat.. hard to count out Hendo! Edge towards SHOGUN!

idk what will happen it could go both ways but for some reason i think its going to be one sided either hendo will kill shogun or shogun will kill hendo. there the kind of guys that leave it all in there and when the bell rings only thing that will matter will be who hits first.

Hendo 41, Shogun 29, two of my favorite fighters no joke but, I think this could be like Couture vs Machida, a wakeup call for Hendo, especially Shogun is not Babalu or Fejiao, Emelianenko is a heavywegiht and never fought with good guys just minotauro and cro cop back then. Hendo have chance no doubt but, I pull this for Shogun Rua.
No complaints coming from me! I’m a fan of both, but want Shogun to bust that ass!
