Dan Henderson | "I don't need to rematch Anderson Silva to redeem myself"

“The 205 belt, the Light Heavyweight belt. I’m not real keen on fighting at 185 but it’s still a possibility, I’m not ruling it out. I’m not real worried about it but right now I’d like to fight at 205. I fought [Anderson Silva] and lost a while back and if it happens, it happens. I’m not in need of a rematch just to redeem myself. I know what I’m capable of and it would be nice to fight him when I’m having a good day and not a bad day but if it doesn’t happen, it doesn’t happen. Both (Evans and Jones) are tough and have been around for a little while but for me the bigger thing is getting that UFC belt. It’s the only thing I haven’t gotten. That would be the motivation and it would definitely be a good sense of accomplishment.”
Dan Henderson comments in a recent interview with Fight Hub TV.
For now Henderson can only wait as Jones is set to face Evans this weekend at UFC 145. Henderson makes it clear that he’s interested in the Light Heavyweight title however does not rule out the possibility of a return to Middleweight.

hendo rashad would be an epic fight
I beg to differ. Rashad hasn’t done anything epic in quite some time if ever.
I beg to differ slightly, kneeing Tito Ortiz in the chest while Tito was sitting on the by the cage just covering his face was pretty ****ing awesome.
He knocked out Chuck Liddel, and defeated Forrest Griffin, Stephan Bonner, Rampage, Thiago Silva, and Phil Davis. Sure hate the guy, but think before you speak.
The Chuck knock-out was epic. But his fights with Silva, Davis, and Rampage were far from epic. They were actually quite boring.
Yes he kneed washed up Tito, but ever since he got ko’ed his had nothing but dry humping matches!!
Evand would destroy Hendo. Hendo is garbage… Idk why people still talk about him lol he knocked out Bisping… What a great accomplishment lol and he beat a shitty fedor….
Rashad beat people at their prime lol
Hendo beat Fedor at his prime and it the best shape hes been in.
Fedors prime passed.along time ago he never evolved with the rest of the sport
fedor was not in his prime lol, he got a win off week chinned andré arwolofski and new comer bret rogers, lol prime my ass
wanderlie wasnt in his prime when the thought o_O
Hendo is garbage he says…ask Shogun if he thinks that. It sounds to me like you picked up MMA abt a year or two ago – so basically you don’t know shit. Anyone who claims to anything abt this sport knows Hendo is the real deal.
Because you picked up MMA 1 or 2 years ago does not mean you don’t know shit. sometimes being a long time fan can mean you don’t know shit either because you don’t evolve with the sport and only like old fighters and/or only like a brawl etc.You can’t speak for everyone that is your opinion.
So what are you saying ace? That Hendo is garbage? hasn’t evolved with the sport? For people who picked up MMA 1-2 years ago how the sport has evolved doesn’t even factor in – hence they know less. To call Hendo garbage (imo) means that you don’t know SHIT abt MMA. period!
You sir are not smart enough to have a conversation with. You need to work on understanding what you read
Hendo, strangely has gotten better with age when his contemporaries from Pride haven’t. He’s like cheese… or wine… or cheese and wine!
why fight with 1-1 t/e when you can get TRT and be 6-1 n be legit
I believe Dan will KO Rashad. I think Dan would have a hard time with Jones and lose a Unanimous Decision. Just my opinion.
Paper, Rock, Scissors.
To much hype around jones. Hendo would crush jones and have a hard time with Evans. Mark my post. Evans wins by round 3 stoppage.
Still with the “hype” comments! How, and why, he has dominated every opponent to date, to still call it hype, is ridiculous! Shogun, rampage, machida, who’s this guy gotta destroy to not be considered hype? Replace hype with natural talent!
I’d rather replace it with ” freak of nature”. His freakin arms are longer than Stefan Struve’s arms!
And that is the tallest fighter with a whopping height of 6’11″ in the UFC!.
Marked!… I’ll be sure to help serve you some crow.
LMFAO!!!… rd 3 hey, here’s some crow… your boy lost and so will your new boy Hendo!
Rashad is boring as ****. Ever since lyoto knocked his ass out he’s been scared to trade and bang.
i know rashad can be boring at times (vs jackson and thiago silva) but the tito fight was epic,
Rashad has a chance but in my opinion jones is too long and too big for Rashad. Any fighter can win any day but my money is on jones based on physical attributes raw athleticism and his unorthodox creative style.. Henderson keeps proving me wrong. He’s older than the Alamo yet he’s still banging. And Henderson has done great things in the ring he was the first person to ever win a round against silva and he’s won titles in every organization ever pretty much.. Stop being anti-fans and be fans of the sport. Give your own opinion it’s own objectivity so you guys don’t sound like t-shirt fans.
I cant believe someone is saying Hendo is garbage. Hendo is the last true legend active an relevant to the sport and he is relevant in more than one division I mean Rua is great but I cant picture him being the champion onces again if Hendo gets a UFC belt I wont have a problem calling him the best ever.
Hendo will go down as the 2nd best fighter in MMA history the loss to Anderson would put Anderson ahead of him in my book..Hendo will be the most decorated champion tho if he does win UFC gold..and yes he has gotten better.with age but TRT makes that possible..but I love watching Hendo fight and the fact that he will fight anybody in any weight class makes him that much more of an icon in the sport..to say Hendo is garbage just means you have only been a fan of MMA since the zuffa era
Your damn right you don’t wanna fight Anderson again
He is incapable of redeeming himself against Anderson.
I think he has a better chance a getting the MW belt… he stand no chance against Jones (Jon would TKO or sub him) and little against Evans (Rashad would out wrestle him to a boring decision similar to what Shields did).
