Dan Henderson Doesn't Think Anderson Silva Wants To Fight Him Again

“You’d have to ask Anderson Silva [why a rematch wasn't booked for the inagural UFC on FOX event] . I don’t think it was close at all because I don’t think he wants to fight me. It was something that was talked about and I said, “Sure, no problem, I’ll do that.” I’d cut down to 185 to fight him, but nobody else. He’s [probably the guy I want to rematch most], especially because of the way he fights most of the time. He just seems disrespectful to his opponents and the fans at the same time.”

In a recent interview with his very own “Clinch Gear Radio”, Dan Henderson goes on record and implies that the UFC middleweight champion may have done a minor tuck and run job when approached about re-matching Dan inside the UFC Octagon.

Or, it could be the fact that Anderson Silva has disclosed a shoulder injury that will keep him out of action until next year, making a fight on Fox with Dan Henderson impossible due to his rehabilitation of the injury…

However, if “Hendo” is right, is Anderson’s unwillingness to fight him due to the shoulder or fear of loss?

  1. Lex w says:

Hendo is 1 of my favs and all but I dnt think anderson was ducking him

    • Three Heads says:

I have a hard time seeing him ducking a guy he choked out.

If you look at it objectively, Hendo might be the guy who ducked as he ran to a different organization after losing to Silva. I love Hendo, but he is being silly here.

      • Jason says:

lol no, know ur shit dude, dan left on a 2 fight win streak afterk KOing bisping…

      • ski says:

hendo was beating his ass before that. just like sonnen who also deserves a rematch. if silva really is the best then he should fight the best. dan didnt run away from ufc, dana is just a bitch. im sure he’d gladly come back to fight anderson. instead he went to the much better org strikeforce to fight the greatest fighter of all times, fedor! and he even won! although fedor is a shadow of his former self. hendo rules and deserves to fight anyone he wants to!

        • sigh says:

If you’re going to write that much just to reply, at least spell than right… then ≠ than

        • Will says:

Just think about what you said for a minute. Why would you deserve a re-match when you “dominated” a fight and then you get beat. And not just beat but you get finished. And not just finished you give tap out. And in Sonnen’s case you cheat and you lose, you definitely don’t get a re-match.

        • andre says:

Stop it, Silva is a beast and there is no one for him to fight!!! Put him in the ring with GSP and lets see what happens!!! Henderson will just get choked out again!!

  2. Heru says:

LOL Henderson got beat and that’s that, Anderson doesn’t have to fight this chump to prove anything at all

  3. JMango says:

REALLY???? People, He dismantled HENDO THE “Dumbo” and Choked his ignorant ass out the first time. “He’s afraid of a loss” Get the Fu@k out of here people..

  4. mpage says:

This fight makes no sense at all, why should he fight Silva just because he held him down and did nothing

  5. Dirk Digler says:

Hendo is the only fighter that has a chance of beating Silva………. Bring it.

  6. Dante says:

hahah choked out second round, get over it hendo
anderson doesnt need to prove anything against u

  7. Jahob says:

Anderson doesn’t wouldn’t want to fight him. Why fight someone who you beat the shit out of again?

  8. Matthew Crites says:

Anderson Silva is a great fight and one of a kind, but he is big on avoiding fights. How many years did he avoid Chael Sonnen? Chael Sonnen lost, but he broke Anderson. Dan would do the same thing with that power and wrestling. Dan lost as well, but Hendo has improved and wants to fight, why not? Gsp has been through the Welter Weight division once and going through it again, Anderson is scared to go back through.

    • Chris says:

      1) I’d like you to tell me exactly how many years he ducked Sonnen. 2) Silva is out till 2012 for his shoulder and the UFC wants him ready to rematch Sonnen if Sonnen beats Stann (which strangely sounds like he is going through the best in the division again…)

    • Al says:

Despite Sonnen roiding up for that fight, Anderson still won. Look, Silva isn’t just on a winning tear, he’s video game highlighting. Best footwork and accuracy in the game. Sonnen might say he wants another go, but without the juice he’s not going into the 5th again.

    • Jmad says:

Avoid Sonnen for years?? he wasn’t even a title contender for that long, I don’t see how that is possible.

    • ThaGreenBandit says:

Are you seriously comparing GSP to Silva? This is the same GSP that s-s-s-starts s-s-s-s-stuttering everytime he’s asked about fighting Silva. “Gsp has been through the Welter Weight division once and going through it again, Anderson is scared to go back through.” C’mon, man, you really can’t be serious

    • mpage says:

ru seriously telling me silva was ducking sonnen….ur totally on that dudes nutts if you are

    • BabyJay says:

lol… I love how Chael fans (and the man himself) think that anderson ducked him for years… just because someone calls someone else out doesn’t make them deserving of that fight. Chael got a shot when he deserved it and he lost. Its not that complicated.

Whether he juiced / dominated whatever… he admitted straight after the fight that anderson put him to sleep. He should get back in the queue and wait his turn again, instead of trying to talk shit already to jump in line.

    • nate says:

how can you say anderson ducked chael sonnen for years when chael lost to demain maia.. you have to win fights to get a shot at a title.. you can’t just say you want to fight the champion and get a shot at him.. you both are idiots

  9. holypaksiw says:

wow! i cant believe it that the Chael sonnen syndrome affecting hendo too.. His previous interview he said he doesnt want to cut down to 185 ang wants a unification bout at 205.. To say a n0. 1 p4p is ducking you is way more disrepectful..

  10. get real says:

Henderson lost to Jake Shields who now fights at 170. Yeah the best fighter ever is definitely ducking him lmao.

  11. Al says:

Can’t blame Dan for the lip. He doesn’t have many fights left in him, might as well hype yourself as much as possible for the biggest paydays.

  12. Matthew Crites says:

Everyone loses a fight. and he ducked sonnen for about 3 years, and has made friends with people that kicked his ass in training. Sonnen is gonna storm through him by round 3. Im sorry, i respect silva, but i dont like him at all. he doesnt care about the fans or fighters. disrespectful through and through. and the disclosed shoulder injury? rampage fought rashad with a knee injury and gsp finished a fight with one eye. those are champions.

    • Beau says:

Yea ducked sonnen for 3 years….Even though he was number one contender for what? a few months? lol so i wonder whats gonna happen now that silva is training to fight wrestlers as thats his weak point? Oh and how about that with okami AND chael silva fought both fights with injurys…cmon bro your living in a dream if you honestly think chael wont get Ktfo come round 3.

    • chris says:

hhahaha ducked for 3 yrs? you actually buying into the bullshit that sonnen talks about? sonnen wasnt even good enough for the ufc back 3yrs ago… cmon son get chaels dick out ya mouth.. and i love hendo, but silva wouldnt be duckin someone he beat easily

    • james says:

first of all anderson fought chael (who was on steroids) with a broken rib and still pulled out a triangle and won in the 5th. thats a champion, idiot.

    • Chris says:

He had the shoulder injury when he knocked out Chael’s little buddy in the last fight. Do you think before you write or just let it flow?

    • Chael Sonnen says:

Fucking Stupid. You like a guy that’s on roids and is thoroughly disrespectful to everyone, even the sport and all brazillian fighters. He’ll never beat anderson, get over it.

    • ThaGreenBandit says:

“…those are champions.” To imply Silva isn’t a champion shows that either you have no understanding of MMA, or you have no understanding of what a champion is. Probably both. You might not like the guy, might not like his style, or whatever, but denying that he’s a champion is just plain stupid. Is your real name Phael Sonnen?

    • Jeff says:

He wasn’t even in the UFC for 3 years!

    • Fortyb4five says:

ummm Kos finished the fight with worse eye damage than Greasey.

    • Will says:

And Anderson finished his last two fights in a row with rib and shoulder injuries and he’s not a real champ? You’re a fucking idiot

    • JLee says:

Matthew Crites is a delusional moron plain and Simple. Sonnen is a delusional moron plain and simple. Therefore, of course you can expect Matthew Crites to spew such nonsense.

  13. Xaninho says:

I never seen Anderson Silva being disrespectful to any opponent who didn’t deserve it. Ofcourse he will be disrespectful if he ever fights Cheat Sonnen again, but that’s nothing more than Cheat Sonnen deserves.

I really like Dan Henderson, but now he’s talking nothing but nonsense for whatever reason.

  14. josh says:

I think Hendo is smoking some of that nick diaz weed.

  15. LeeVanKief says:

Hendo ran after losing to Silva? He fought 3 more times in the UFC. I dont know if Silva is ducking him or not. I don think Silva is afraid of anyone in 185, but that one fight against Demian Maia was annoying. He toyed with the guy the entire fight, maybe do that for 3 rounds but spend the last 2 destroying your opponent. At least thats what i thought he should have done, but i’m not an MMA fighter, so wtf do i know?

  16. Hendo @ 205 = Brazilian grease monkey killer!

  17. fif son says:

the question of is a.s. ducking dan is fucking stupid. A.S. aint scared of anyone little loan sumone he already be, COM ON SON

  18. Matthew Crites says:

Despite whatever you or I say, we are just speculating. I believe he is disrespectful and im sure you could ask alot of mma fighter and you’d get mixed answers. Dan henderson i feel deserves the fight and will knock him out. Just starting to train agaist wrestlers who’ve been wrestling their whole lives isnt gonna help much while they are training at their wrestling. if silva fights sonnen, sonnen’s hand with be raised. thats my last word.

  19. Bobbi Sinister says:

There is a video of Hendo on you tube saying how he could never be choked out. Obviously it was filmed before the Spider fight. Hendo is lucky, not good!

  20. ThaGreenBandit says:

Stop sippin’ off the 100 proof Haterade, Hendo. Silva choked you out, and now he’s ducking you? C’mon, man, you’re better than that.

  21. dyllan says:

isnt anderson out with a shoulder injury? he probably wouldnt have been able to make the fight anyways

  22. Dangerous says:

First off if Hendo really wanted a rematch, he would have signed a new contract after his last 3 fights with the UFC instead of wanting way too much money for knocking out bisping. Silva still rocked him then choked him out so there’s no reason to duck him. And Sonnen hasn’t even been a no 1 contender in THE UFC for that long so how the fuck did Anderson duck him for 3 years? When Chael was in WEC??? C’mon son! And the thing everyone seems to forget is that even though he put Silva in some trouble, Sonnen CHEATED for a title fight and STILL LOST. Got triangle choked like he always does and the champ had a broken rib to top it off. And lastly Silva has been working with high level wrestlers for a while now so don’t make it sound like he started doing that like a week ago. And to cap this off, sure GSP fought to the end and “finished” the fight when Jake Shields out of all people swole his eye shut, but Anderson Silva actually FINISHES FIGHTS when injured and in highlight reel fashion. That’s a true champion. My bad, had to vent. Noobs and Chael Sonnen make me sick

  23. momo says:

AS is prolly waiting for the GSP fight cuse if he wins thats prolly going to be the next fight and i bet they will even coach the ultimate fighter.

  24. ratchola says:

i think hendo at 185 will not perform the same that hendo at 205….ill love to see this fight at 205 or even a catchweight…..but if its gonna be for the mw title, i hope dan can cut the weight with no problems, …he should hire a nutricionist….

  25. Mike says:

When Anderson respects his opponent, he trains hard, works on a game plan and dominates. It’s scary.
IMO he didn’t view Sonnen as a threat and didn’t prepare properly, in a rematch, let take the Roids, Anderson will be prepared, and he will impress. His most impressive fights are against the best fighters.

I’ll take a lot of heat for this, but there are maybe 8 fighters, in all of UFC ( WW, MW, LHW, HW) who would beat Silva.

As for GSP, he’s incredible, but a fight against Jon Jones would be more I treating to me

    • ThaGreenBandit says:

I’d like to hear that list of 8

      • get real says:

I’d like to see the list as well. And there are no WW or MW that can beat Silva right now, otherwise he wouldn’t have the MW belt for the last 5 years or so.

        • Mike says:

What I meant was that there are maybe 8 Total ( not per weight) who potentially could do it. They might not win, but they stand a fair chance.

          How about:
JDS, Velasquez, Lesnar, Jones, Machida, Mir, Carwin.
Carwin on size, wrestling ability to take a whoopin.
Mir’s got 80 lbs on the guy, and is still a good fighter.
Machida would be a boring fight, but they’re both so fast.
          Jones- speaks for itself.
Other 3 Are big, fast, and won’t get dropped as easily as Forrest, despite Andersons outrageous speed and accuracy.

I could be wrong, Silva take-down defense could be better than I think, and he might use his speed to open up a flurry on the HW’s.

Ps. I didn’t forget about Sonnen, Rua, Evans, rampage. I didn’t include them purposely.

        • Chris says:

Sad thing is everyone you listed are HW and Silva doesn’t even want to go to LHW.

  26. mike f says:

Word is that after Hendo koed Bisping, Anderson said he didn’t want to fight him again.

    • ThaGreenBandit says:

Yeah, because Hendo’s KO’s are much scarier than Vitor Belfort’s right? If he was too scared to fight Hendo because of his KO of Bisping, why, in his right mind, would he take a fight with Belfort?

      • Creature says:

Yeah id say Hendos KO ability is scarier, Hendo takes people out in just one shot, Belfort hurts them, then swarms furiously to get the KO. AS has a better chance of surviving a Belfort Swarm then taking a Hendo right hand on the chin..

  27. zc says:

think about he 3 best fighters as has beaten, then tell me hes that geat

  28. zack says:

LOL hendo is lossing his mind. anderson already beat you in every aspect. he picked you apart standing up and then made you tap. and how is silva disrespectful? maybe to demian mia bcuz he was being a ***** just fucking bouncing around scared to do anything. and vitor bcuz if you train at black house you dont fight another black house fighter. vitor disregarded that so he got his. if silva fights sonnen again it will be one of the best displays of striking EVER and sonnen will be knocked out asking the ref where he is

    • ThaGreenBandit says:

Yeah, Belfort got his alright, in the form of a foot being crammed down his gullet. Even though I don’t think he deserves it, I’d love to see Silva get another crack at Sonnen so he can shut his pompous mouth. Although, I wouldn’t be surprised if Sonnen gets a brutal beating and still claims to be the real champ.

  29. Fortyb4five says:

All the shit talk here on Hendo, you’d think all you fags weren’t little keyboard warriors…but that ain’t the case.

    • ThaGreenBandit says:

Not too many people really talking shit or talking bad about Hendo, just stating the obvious that Hendo got that ass whipped the first time around. You calling people fags just because they chose to point out the truth makes it seem like you might be the fag who has a man crush on Hendo

  30. ski says:

anderson is totally ducking him cause he knows how dangerous dan is. hes also even ducked a rematch with sonnen.

    • Xaninho says:

Sonnen CHEATED! So why do people think that steroïd bitch deserves a rematch ffs?

Let him grow his balls back first and beat a few contenders before getting another shot at that belt.

  31. ski says:

remember, mir got lucky against brock. same thing with hendo vs anderson. why would you not want to see 2 top fighters go at it even if it was a rematch? i dont know whose more scared of a loss, silva or his nut hugging fans.

  32. Creature says:

Dan at 205 can give anyone a run for their money, if he were to fight Anderson at LHW i think he takes it, at 185 im not so sure.. he has a hard time making the cut. Do i think he has a chance? yes, i think Hendo could, but Silva would have a much better chance at 185. He lost to Shields, but he also had a back injury and could barely train, he just didnt want to pull out of the fight. Regardless Dan is a monster and a legend, hes not scared to fight anyone and has proved it. He deserves respect and the fight with Silva, if the fight doesnt happen give him machida for number 1 contender after rashad, or just go straigh to title unification

  33. Creature says:

Btw Chael wasnt on steroids, If you are gonna talk shit about him at least know wtf your talking about. He had a testosterone level slighty higher than the level the NSAC accepts. Not enough to give him any real boost in any aspect. Im not trying to start an argument it just bugs me people say that when its completely false

    • Xaninho says:

It wasn’t “slightly” higher it was alot higher. The reason it was higher is because steroïd users normal testosterone levels decrease substantially, due to the fact the body’s own testosterone production slows down or completely stops during steroïd use.

To overcome that steroïd users get TRT(Testosterone Replacement Therapy). But it’s hard to get it to exactly to “normal” levels, so luckily the cheaters (Sonnen, Marquardt)get caught when that happens.

      • Creature says:

It was Definitely not a lot higher.. I watched the entire suspension hearing with the NSAC when all this first happened, they gave exact levels.

        • Xaninho says:

Chael Sonnen tested for “well above normal levels of testosterone,” according to CSAC executive director George Dodd.

“Well above”, is nothing like “slightly”. To me well above means he had a considerable abnormal high testosterone level.

  34. JOSH C says:

chael sonnen = poor mans henderson

  35. Dangerous says:

Firstly ThaGreenBandit knows tha deal and as for ski watch the hendo vs silva fight again and then please explain how the hell that was lucky….Lol like really???

    • mmaislandjunkie says:

i know this much, silva was definitely more concerned of dan than he was chael. how can one be afraid of something non lethal such as chael, fightin hendo silva knew he possed power that could actually hurt him with sonnen the worst case scenario was losing a decision not his consciousness.

    • ThaGreenBandit says:

I’ll tell you how it was “lucky”. After Hendo had delivered a powerful punch, that we all somehow missed, Silva fell into a heap on Hendo’s back. Then, because of the power of the punch, Silva went into a seizure which caused his arms to shake violently and wrap themselves around Hendo’s neck and squeeze. Hendo wasn’t tapping out, he was trying to get Silva’s attention to see if he was alright or needed medical attention. The ref just misunderstood the tapping gesture.

  36. bizzle says:

LOL Anderson will leave him looking like a stomped on lizard just like he did the 1st time, Hendo’s “save me” face was priceless..

  37. SanSooRob says:

Lol waaahaaaa Anderson scared , He kicked Vitors face off.
Please dont turn into sonnen Dan !!!

  38. 123 says:

I think Hendo and Victor Belfort will be a good match

  39. Jeff Reece says:

I believe dan can knock anderson out. when Henderson is healthy he is a beast and Anderson knows it. I believe he knows dans punching power and if he is really hurt he is being smart by not fighting til he is healthy again because it would take all he’s got for him to beat henderson now. Dan Henderson is healthy and most of all the mental strength is back and when he is like that he is unbeatable.

  40. TheKaveman says:

At middleweight, Hendo has no chance. The cut is simply too great a strain on the old veteran’s body. If Hendo and Silva re-matched at 185, I’d go as far to wager that Hendo would lose in even worse fashion than the first time they met. It’d be a complete and total beatdown.

205, however, is a much more intriguing weight class for this match to take place in. Suspect cardio aside, Hendo has demonstrated a power and resilience that (in my eyes) places him on an even playing field with the best that the LHW division has to offer. Yes, this does include current champion Jon Jones, but that’s a discussion best saved for another time. Getting back on track, I would wager that Hendo would only be triumphant against Silva if he managed to land a flush H-bomb in the initial three rounds. Although Anderson has demonstrated that he, too, possesses a granite chin, anyone can get knocked out. This applies to Hendo as well, however, so a stand-up war with the Spider is definitely a double-edged sword.

I simply do not want to witness this re-match take place at 185. It would be a waste of time and money. In my opinion, Hendo just doesn’t have a chance at that weight class against Silva. That division belongs to the Spider and probably always will.

    • mmaislandjunkie says:

unfortunately for hendo silva is too quick for him and would pick him apart. the only time hendo looked to be winning v anderson is when he took anderson down. i wouldnt mind watching it again but i think the outcome would be no different.
