UFC Fighter and artist Dan Hardy has teamed with XYIENCE Xenergy, the official energy drink of the UFC, to announce XenArt: The Energy of Art, a national juried art competition and exhibition. The contest is free to enter and is open to all artists over the age of 18 who reside in the United States. Contest rules can be found at www.xyience.com/XenArt.
Submissions can be two-dimensional, three-dimensional or photography, and must interpret the contest’s theme and the brand’s tagline: Power to Win™. Pieces must also feature the Xenergy can or be constructed of empty Xenergy cans. Entry forms and digital submissions are accepted starting Friday, July 13, through Monday, Aug. 6, at 5 p.m. Pacific Time at www.facebook.com/XYIENCE.
One grand prizewinner will receive $1,000 plus a one-year supply of XYIENCE Xenergy, a second-place winner will receive $500 plus prizes, and the third-place winner will receive $250 plus prizes. There will also be a People’s Choice Award.
Twenty finalists will be selected during the first round of judging. Finalists will be notified by XYIENCE on Monday, Aug. 13. A jury will review the 20 finalists and select the top three winners. The winners will be announced on Friday, Aug. 31.
Members of the public can vote for their favorite among the 20 finalists at www.facebook.com/XYIENCE during the People’s Choice Award voting period held Monday, Aug. 27, through Friday, Aug. 31, at 6 p.m. Pacific Time.
Finalists will be showcased at the XenArt: The Energy of Art show and VIP red carpet reception on Friday, Aug. 31, at the Amanda Harris Gallery of Contemporary Art and The Lady Silvia in downtown Las Vegas (900 S. Las Vegas Boulevard). The event will be hosted by UFC fighter and XYIENCE athlete Dan Hardy and will be open by invitation only from 7 to 10 p.m. and will be open to the public after 10 p.m. Winners will be announced at 8:30 p.m.
The evening will also include a special showcase of artists who are part of the MMA industry. The event coincides with UFC® 151: Jones vs. Henderson, which takes place on Saturday, Sept. 1, 2012, at the Mandalay Bay Convention Center in Las Vegas.
