Conor McGregor Up For Welterweight Move To Face Diego Sanchez
Most of that time seems to be spent trading quips, insults, and challenges with just about everyone on the UFC roster. Not an uncommon occurrence, in the world of “cage fighting”. Recently however, McGregor seems to have honed in on one fighter in-particular: Diego Sanchez.
And while a fight between the two would surely be exciting (and watching someone eat their words is always a nice bonus), it wasn’t likely to happen anytime soon, as Diego is considering a return to the welterweight (170 pound) division, and McGregor typically resides in the featherweight (145 pound) division.
Funny what a difference a ‘Tweet’ can make.
In the most recent of their Twitter-feud-feed, McGregor said that he would be more than willing to go to 170 pounds, in order to fight his verbal foe:
Say what you want about McGregor, but the dude backs up his words.
Conor is currently nursing his torn (and surgically repaired) ACL back to health, and should be out of action until mid-2014; plenty of time for Diego to squeeze in another fight before a possible meeting between the two.
Sanchez is coming off of an extremely entertaining scrap with Gilbert Melendez, in a “Fight of the Year” candidate.
