Condit Expected To Fight At UFC 170
UFC Welterweight contender Carlos Condit was originally scheduled to fight Matt Brown on the UFC on Fox 9 card. That was until Matt Brown suffered from a back injury that forced the fighter to pull from the bout.
Carlos spoke of his disappointment about the withdraw in a statement released to BJPENN.COM on December 8.
“I was greatly disappointed to hear of Matt Brown’s injury,” Condit said. “This was a fight that I was looking forward to immensely, and I know it was a fight the fans have been excited to see. When the fight does happen, I promise that the wait will be worth it.”
Carlos went on to talk about what he would be doing in the meantime until his next fight.
“Right now I’m going to spend time with my family over the holidays, and hope that Matt heals up quickly so that we can reschedule this fight soon.”
UFC 170 is set to take place on February 22, a card that Condit is expected to fight on. If everything goes well with Matt Brown the two may very well still get the opportunity to fight. However, if Brown is not able to compete then Condit will be matched up with another opponent.
