Coach: Ronda Dropping Boxing World Champs With Punches In Training

“I’m not going to give out what she’s going to do, but I’ll be honest: We get boxing world champions in here – girls – and she drops all of them with body shots. So if you’re dropping people with 14-ounce gloves, you guys should be seeing that.”

During this week’s UFC 170 media event in Los Angeles, Ronda Rousey’s head trainer, Edmond Tarverdyan, discussed his pupils progression in the realm of striking.

Coming into MMA with a world-class Judo pedigree, Rousey’s striking was and still is, far behind her grappling ability. However, having been working with Tarverdyan for the past several years, he seems to be confident in her progress.

Saw a clip of her boxing a female world champ and she looked good doing so, it hasn’t translated in her fights yet, but so far it hasn’t needed to.

This once again proves that the new breed of MMA fighters are just as good in boxing as any boxer. Stop being so blind to the truth. Boxing is just a very small part of what we do as MMA fighters. Boxing is just fist fighting – it’s easy. We train it every day but we train other stuff as well. That’s why we are superior to boxers, even in boxing – we have better cardio, more heart, we are faster and stronger. Those flabby ass white boys just do their jump rope and fight the bag all day. New breed MMA fighter beats a boxer in boxing, a kick boxer in kickboxing, a gappler in grappling and a wrestler in wrestling. FACTS !

I have even been to boxing gyms to sharpen up my boxing and those guys are amazing with their hands…even blocking their shots hurt… we train what 25% boxing & kicking 25% elbows, knees 25% wrestling % 25% Bjj…they train 100% boxing… you talk utter shit I guess you trained few months and own a whole wardrobe of Tapout gear…. go into your local boxing gym for some sparing to test it out (if you are old enough)
