Clearing the Air: Cesar Gracie Tells Us That Nick Diaz was Offered a Fight by the UFC

BJPenn.com wants to clear the air about the news that is currently circulating about the fight offer that Nick Diaz did or did not receive from the UFC.

Last night on BJPenn.com Radio Nick Diaz’s trainer and longtime mentor, Cesar Gracie, talked with our boys Pedro Carrasco and George Mathews about Diaz’s future with the UFC and he clearly stated that Nick Diaz was offered a fight from the organization while Diaz was in Las Vegas.

Since we broke this news last night some MMA news sites have claimed that these are false statements, some are saying Dana White is denying the offer, and some websites are even stating that Cesar Gracie himself is claiming that we “misquoted him”  in his interview on last night’s show (July 17th).

Those are false statements, though, as we reported exactly what he said on the show.

MMAJunkie.com spoke with Cesar Gracie today and here is what they are reporting from their interview with him:

“I was misquoted by BJPenn.com,” he said. “There’s no bout agreement. There’s no new contract.”

However, we have stone cold proof that Gracie did indeed let the cat out of the bag and tell us that Diaz was offered a NEW FIGHT. And while we now know this was just a huge misunderstanding prompted by another news outlet, the damage by Mr. Gracie has been done, which leaves us no choice but to share our side in defense of these erroneous claims.

Here is the proof that we are not twisting Mr. Gracie’s words and that we reported exactly what he said during his interview on BJPenn.com Radio.

Did we misquote him? Decide for yourself and hit play below:
