Clean Sweep For UFC 144 Drug Tests

By Lewis Mckeever:
With the Overeem PED saga flipping the MMA cosmos upside down, it’s refreshing to hear some positivity regarding drug testing in the UFC. The results from UFC 144 are back, and to the delight of the fans, all eight examined fighters from the Japanese card are as clean as a whistle. I’m sure Dana White is breathing a heavy sigh of relief somewhere amongst UFC headquarters right now.

With no set regulations permitted in Japan, the UFC had to take matters into their own hands, following the guidelines of Ratner.

Current UFC champion and former WEC champ Benson Henderson, alongside co-headliner Frankie Edgar were both tested, together with six other randomly selected fighters; their identities not yet to be revealed.

The fighters were scanned for a wide array of substances; including marijuana, cocaine and any anabolic steroids.

Stay tuned to BJPenn.com for upcoming results on all 24 participants from last weekend’s Swedish UFC on Fuel 2 card.
