Clay Guida out at UFC on Fox 7 fight against Mendes | UFC NEWS
A word of warning should be issued to any fighter that decides to take on Chad Mendes. Clay Guida has been forced to withdraw from his fight with Mendes at UFC on Fox 7. This marks the third time in as many months his opponent has withdrawn due to an injury.
Call it bad luck, or bad karma, or really whatever Mendes has some bad juju. I searched and have not found one time where Guida has pulled out of a fight due to an injury. The injury that has forced Guida to withdraw has not yet been disclosed.
This is an incredible streak of bad luck for Mendes. The other fighters that have withdrawn due to injury are Hacran Dias (UFC on FX 6) and Manny Gamburyan (UFC 157).
The UFC is attempting to find a replacement, but it may be difficult just because of the circumstances. Hopefully they can find a replacement for one of the top contenders in the Featherweight division. They were able to find a replacement at UFC on FX 6, but not for UFC 157. If unable to find a replacement, Mendes may be taken off the card completely for the second time.
Possible replacements could include Erik Koch, Cub Swanson, or Nick Lentz. All would be prime replacements and provide entertaining fights.
