A Driven Chris Weidman Plans To Break The Filipino Wrecking Machine | UFC News
By Jamie McAllister
UFC Middleweight contender Chris Weidman comments in an interview with MMAweekly.
In his next bout Weidman faces Mark Munoz at UFC on Fuel TV: Munoz vs. Weidman.
Munoz has stated that with a victory over Weidman he plans to call out Middleweight Champion Anderson Silva. Weidman feels he may also be close to a title shot but plans to show it by making a statement against Munoz and not in a post-fight interview.
“I see all these guys saying they think they deserve it and a lot of people think I deserve it too, and I think I kind of do too, but I’m not going to go out there and start strongly suggesting it because I’ve got a big fight with Mark Munoz and I’m in this fight to make a statement between me and him and that cage,”
“Once I make that statement that I feel like I’m ahead of the pack, if I’m able to make that statement then I think my performance will speak for itself. Then at that time I’ll come out and say I want Anderson Silva.”
Weidman has confidence in his skills and states he has no excuses not to win the fight against Munoz.
“I’m very confident in myself and feel like I can be a world champion and I can beat all these top guys. This is my chance to prove it. I have no excuses not to win this fight, it’s all on me if I lose,”
He is also happy to be facing an opponent like Mark Munoz and plans to break ‘The Filipino Wrecking Machine’
“I want to go in there against another confident guy who really thinks they’re going to be able to beat me,” Weidman said “It’s going to drive me to try to break them.”

YESSSS I BELIEVE!
Weidman has to be the biggest middleweight next to Sonnen. They both drop from well over 230lbs. Someday they will implement next day weigh ins and fighters like Sonnen, Weidman will have to at least go up one weight class or more. Weidman will have a good 15lbs on Munoz however I believe Munoz will be able to offset the weigh difference with his wrestling. Munoz has a considerable advantage in striking but I think Weidman may have better JITS. Bisping should have already had to fight both of these guys long time ago but UFC made sure they skirted Bisping around them by having him fight fighters like Mayem miller, jorge rivera, Dan miller. Who as Bisping beat in top 10?
You do realize Anderson Silva is one of the bigget Middleweights much larger than sonnen. He walks around 230.
This guy wears aluminum foil on his head. Quite demented….He is definitely OCD….
Nice I really like Weidman he tells it like it is and has sick skills !!!
Weidman is a tough dude, but Munoz is a beast. Munoz is gonna destroy this guy, then meet his ultimate demise when je faces Silva
Im not trying to be rude but just who has this dude beat, Anybody?
He beat Maia after cutting huge weight on short notice also I think you gotta take into account the way he finished his other UFC fights vs. Lawlor and Bongfeldt and he beat Sakara with broken ribs in his UFC debut Weidman is a warrior and he’s going to beat Munoz and is a future champ
Sahara is the most overrrated fighter to ever get in cage. Weidman had at least 25lbs on Maia. Maia isn’t even a big WW let alone a HUGE LHW like Weidman. I do like weidman he is a good kid and 1000 times better person and representative of sport tahn someone like CHEAT Sonnen. Weidman would be a horrible matchup for Sonnen because weidmans wrestling is as good orbetter than Sonnens and Sonnen wouldn’t have hsi usual size advantage so he wouldn’t be able to lay on weidman and do hsi usual pillow slapping lay n pray. Weidman would submit Sonnen
Your a ****ing moron. Sonnens wrestling skill is leagues ahead of weidmans. Sakara isnot overrated at all.and none of these guys are light heavys
That fight with maia was kinda wack.. thought maia took it although pretty much nothin happend
Munoz is gonna dump him on his head then go apeshit with them donkey punches for a tko Rd 2
good call
you all suck!!!
Munoz FTW!
Called it I guess all you guys are gonna jump on the Weidman hype train now !!!!
