Chris Leben vs. Carlos Vemola booked for UFC 155 in Las Vegas | UFC News

By: Chris Taylor
Chris Leben, who was given a year-long suspension by the UFC in November of 2011 after testing positive for prescription painkillers oxycodone and oxymorphone after his UFC 138 main event loss to Mark Munoz in England, now has an official return date and opponent.
Leben (22-8 MMA, 12-7 UFC) will return to the octagon on December 29 in Las Vegas for UFC 155, to face Carlos Vemola (9-3 MMA, 2-3 UFC).
The TUF season 1 veteran, Leben, is 4-2 in his past six bouts, which include stoppage victories over the likes of Wanderlei Silva, Yoshihiro Akiyama and Aaron Simpson.
The 6 time Czech Republic National Wrestling Champion, Vemola, is coming off a loss to Francis Carmont at UFC on FUEL TV 4 in July. He is now 1-1 in the middleweight division after winning his debut with a rear-naked choke when he faced Mike Massenzio at UFC on FOX 3 in May.
UFC 155 takes place December 29 in Las Vegas, Nevada. A venue for the event has not been announced but it will likely take place at either the MGM Grand Garden Arena or Mandalay Bay Events Center. The main card is headlined by a heavyweight title fight rematch between champion Junior Dos Santos and former titleholder Cain Velasquez. UFC 155 airs live on pay-per-view following the prelims on FX and Facebook.
The updated UFC 155 card now looks as follows:
- Champ Junior Dos Santos vs. Cain Velasquez (heavyweight title fight)
- Tim Boetsch vs. Chris Weidman
- Forrest Griffin vs. Chael Sonnen
- Joe Lauzon vs. Gray Maynard
- Phil De Fries vs. Matt Mitrione
- Chris Leben vs. Karlos Vemola
