Chael Sonnen calls Wanderlei Silva’s chin suspect | UFC NEWS
There is no doubt that Wanderlei Silva loves the sport of MMA. The “Axe Murderer” has been fighting professionally, and knocking guys out, since 1996. A fighter does not know, or want to admit, when his time has come, but his chin knows. Chael Sonnen on UFC Tonight recently talked about the upcoming Silva-Stann fight, and had this to say:
“Wanderlei has kind of been at end of the career for a while now. He loves this sport. He is very sincere when he says he loves to fight, he loves to train and he loves to compete. The problem is he isn’t winning a lot of fights. If he gets knocked out one more time, I suspect that will be the end of the road. Brian Stann has the ability to knock him out. Wanderlei has the same ability and can definitely win this fight. But he really needs it and Brian doesn’t. Wanderlei’s heart is big, but his chin is more suspect than Blade Runner (Oscar Pistorious). Brian Stann, the All-American, KO’s him in the first round.”
Sonnen makes some pretty bold statements, we should be used to it by now, but to compare Silva’s chin to an alleged murderer’s alibi? Now that’s bold. The part that is scary; he’s right.
Silva is 3-7 in his last ten fights, with his most recent fight being a loss to Rich Franklin at UFC 147. It was by Unanimous Decision, but when you look deeper into his last seven losses an undeniable fact comes through; four of his last seven losses have come by KO. Having that many KOs is serious cause for concern.
Is Sonnen right? Is Wanderlei Silva’s career over due to a suspect chin? We will see as Silva is set to fight Brian Stann, a KO specialist himself, at UFC on FUEL TV 8 on March 3rd at Saitama Super Arena in Saitama, Japan.

I hate to agree with this, but I have to. Love Wandi, but you can only get your shit rocked so many times before you can’t take it anymore.
Wanderlei’s stand up game and muay thai are far too advanced for stann. He has the power to know wand out yeah but that’s ALL he has, I feel like wand has far superior stand up due to his experience. Stann was a marine, not a muay thai monster like wand. I see knees to the face for stann all night.
The problem with sonnen is that his comments are so biased. If he wants to be a journalist then he shouldn’t base his comments on his own opinions. But anyway I think wandy will retire but after knocking out stann. And sonnen will join him after getting his head ripped off by jones
