Chael Sonnen Blasts Olympic Committee For Removing Wrestling | UFC NEWS

“Look, we have an idiocracy known as FILA that has ruined the sport. We have two knuckleheads that you couldn’t trust to run your local donut shop, regulating our sport of wrestling. At the same time, is this a surprise? …No, wrestling has cannabalized itself from 10 spots on the world and olympic team, to 9, to 8, to 7. Look guys, it’s basic science, the number 1 rule in Biology, you either evolve, or you become extinct.”

“I am not the bearer of good news. I am not the one who is going to spark a fake light, spark a fake fire behind the perverbial back of this fight. It’s over guys. And it’s not over in 2020. It’s over in 2016.”

“Here are the facts they are not telling you. Wrestling in this country is supported by the United States Olympic COmittee. That ATM is going to close the moment they roll out the mat in 2016. You’ve got 3 and a half years left. You’re going to count on a governing body that couldn’t gain up 1 spot, move us from 7 to 8, to save the whole sport? It’s over, prepare the eulogy.”

Kenny, you gotta stop saying, “and aahh…” all the time. Please! It sounds not only stupid but unprofessional.

Listen to any of the gigs he’s commentated on, and ah, he says it far too frequently. And ah, it just really annoys me. I know you’ve got to fill the space with something but, and ah, there’s gotta be something better? And ah, surely??

He’s a fighter turned commentator give the guy a break. Just like anything you do in life the more you do it the better you get. (And ah) just be glad nobody sees what you do for a living and talks trash about what and how you do things.

He does a decent job as commentator, don’t get me wrong. I’m not saying he is rubbish. He’s obviously an intelligent guy who has a versatile skill base. I think of it more like he’s not just a fighter who’s transitioned to commentating, rather he’s an intelligent guy who used to fight – who now commentates. If you see what I mean?
I’d say if you’re going to make the move to speaking in front of people, from any other walk of life, learn a few of the basics. I’m generalizing but course for public speaking will tell you not to ‘talk with your hands’ and not to repeat yourself.

You know it is a sad day when they Olympics did what they did. I refuse to watch any Olympic sport now, I think this is a joke, why would they leave in curling but take out wrestling? Why would they leave in bad mition and not wrestling??

I really don’t care what they take out of the Olympics as long as they are not the founding sports of the original Olympics. I even don’t care what sports they add, the more the better for other countries. Think about it, people have dreams if they want to sweep the ground in front of a weighted rock to see if they can get it to score a point who really cares, it is their dream, but the facts are simple, wrestling in America at least is started in grade school, I wrestled since I was in the 4th grade, I was never good enough to go to the Olympics, but it was a dream.

Sad day for sports especially wrestling simply because of politics surrounding the Olympics. I am not sure who got the most medals in Olympic wrestling last time out but I have a funny feeling China (OR any other country that lives and dies for medals) has a problem with wrestling in the Olympics so they will have a better chance to win the medal count. I picked China simply because I know to them it is their goal to get the most gold medals and they have been known to do strange things to boost their medal count like Russia used to do and maybe still does with baby factories and children taken from their parents and put into orphanages and trained basically from birth to be an Olympic star. Disturbing crap…

I really don’t care. I don’t watch the olympics anyway.
