Chad Mendes Surprised At Allegations Linking Him To Sucker Punching Bar Brawlers | UFC NEWS

A bar room brawl involving some 40 people or so took place in the Lacy Inn Bar Hanford, CA a few days ago.   The Hanford Sentinel Reports one of those 40 men was UFC featherweight, Chad Mendes.

Mendes allegedly sucker punched an unsuspecting patron and was uncooperative with the local authorities before rushing out the back door and fleeing on foot.  He was never caught and has been wanted for questioning ever since.

The Hanford sheriff  tells the Sentinel Mendes could be charged with assault with a deadly weapon due to his extensive MMA training and he has until Monday (Aug. 6) to turn himself in or a warrant would be issued for his arrest.

Mendes denies any wrong doing.  Jeff Meyer, Mendes’ manager and practicing attorney release this statement to

“On Friday afternoon, Chad Mendes was shocked and surprised by the allegations contained in an article published on an Internet news site. While Chad acknowledges that an incident occurred last Saturday in Hanford, he contends that the majority of the facts pertaining to him in the story are absolutely false.

Attempts were immediately made by Chad’s representatives to contact personnel at the Sheriff’s Department on Friday afternoon. Despite these repeated attempts, Chad’s representatives have not received any response from the Sheriff’s Department at the time of this release.

Chad denies any wrongdoing and is very upset by the allegations contained in the story. He will fully cooperate with the Sheriff’s Department and looks forward to clearing his name.”

This past July 7 in Las Vegas, Nevada Mendes acquired a W over Cody McKenzie at UFC 148 via TKO Punches at :31 in the 1st Round.

Alcohol and Bar Room Brawls don’t make for good publicity. He didn’t make himself look good either by not cooperating and pulling a Harrison Ford and going Fugitive on the cops. Overall it’ll get swept away, and he’ll hopefully have a lesson learned.

All suspects are innocent unroll proven guilty. Don’t believe everything you read on the net. Words to live by. Believe nothing that u hear and half of what u see

Maybe if Mendes hadn’t ran a way from cops he might not be in this mess. Its only obvious when peopel run away they have a guilty concious. Must be pretty fast even though he is barely 5 foot

      • Guss says:

How do you know he ran from the cops? For all we know he answered the cop’s questions, and didn’t want or have anything else to say, and he just walked out. If he wasn’t under arrest, he is free to go. Not wanting to answer ANYMORE questions, or not have anything else to say, and leaving because they had no reason to further detain him, could be seen considered “uncooperative” to the authorities. But is it really? Talking back to a cop (defending yourself from allegations) who is power tripping would be considered by cops as “uncooperative”. People can put different spins on a story, including cops.

You know theres going to be trouble when you go to a place called the Lacy Inn Bar. Probably hit the dude because he told him he looks like Urjiah but just withouth the buttchin.

Come on faber is 5’3 inches with his high tops on and Mendes is barely 5’0 with his shoes on so get it straight. saw both these KIDS at Palms and they looked like little kids running around looking for their parents. I’m no giant by any means and either si my buddy who was with me but at 5’11 and 6’0 even we both had a foot on those little kids without any doubt. Thye may have been 10 feet away but it was obviosu they were elbow height for both of us. UFC needs to just call it MIDGET fighting and make it part of circus. why do you think they call their gym “TEAM ALPHA MIDGETS” they think they are the alpha’s of the dwarfs. What really disturbs me about those little kids is they like to run around naked togther which is more than “GAY”, maybe its just a Cali thing being so close to Frisco

All suspects are innocent until proven guilty in the court of law! In my best cops dude voice.

  4. Xaninho says:

Assault with a deadly weapon just because the dude has some martial arts training? And what about dudes with crazy natural power in their hands? Some of those guys don’t need much training to do more damage with their fists than pro mma fighters who have been training for years.

  5. Xaninho says:

They were lucky Badr Hari and his entourage wasn’t there lol..

  6. B-rad says:

^^ yeah thats really dumb that you can be charged with a deadly weapon because hes an MMA fighter. If he didnt have a club in his hand or somethin its just assult

  7. Huh? says:

Assault with a deadly weapon because he’s an MMA fighter? I’ve been going Muay Thai for 8 years, so if i punch some dude that’s the same as hitting him in the head with a baseball bat? Or any other deadly weapon? Get the fuck out of here. That’s officially the dumbest thing i’ve ever heard.

    • Gabi says:

Idk about you but if you got your shorts they would try to regirster you like they do w boxers as other muay Thai fighters I know. Most get their shorts in private w no one knowing a damn thing unti they fight in a competition if they even say (most say freestyle or some bs). Personally I think it’s lame. Money will be passed and this will just pass under the rug. Not a big deal

    • bunkylomax says:

maybe your Muay Thai is weak son

  8. 757 says:

Get rid of Fitch talks the most stupid shit. Dude you sound like a mental midget……

  9. Unarmed Spectator says:

See what had happen was…. They tried to take the one ring that rules them all so I had to defend it, and then I ran to mordor…
