Chad Griggs vs. Cyrille Diabate added to UFC 154 in Montreal | UFC News
By: Chris Taylor
A light-heavyweight match-up between Chad Griggs (11-2 MMA, 0-1 UFC) and Cyrille Diabate (18-8-1 MMA, 3-2 UFC) has been added to the UFC 154 fight card.
Diabate was initially slated to face off against Fabio Maldonado in a UFC on FUEL TV 5 bout. However, Maldonado was pulled from the card in order to replace Quinton “Rampage” Jackson in a UFC 153 bout against Glover Teixeira.
Diabate looks to stay in the win column after earning a decision win over Tom DeBlass at UFC on FUEL TV 2 in his most recent octagon appearance. The Frenchman made his UFC debut in May 2010 scoring a win over Luiz Cane, since then he has fought four times, alternating between wins and losses along the way.
The former Strikeforce fighter, Chad Griggs, made his UFC debut earlier this year while sporting an impressive six-fight win streak. However, Griggs had an unsuccessful octagon debut, suffering a first-round submission loss to Travis Browne. After the fight, Griggs made the decision to drop from heavyweight division to the light heavyweight weight class. Griggs had originally accepted a UFC on FOX 4 fight with Phil Davis, but was forced off the card with an injury.
UFC 154 takes place November 17 at Bell Centre in Montreal, Quebec, Canada. The event is headlined by a welterweight title unification bout between George St. Pierre and Carlos Condit. The main card will air live on pay-per-view following the prelims on FX and Facebook.
