Cesar Gracie | Nick Diaz Is Too Important To MMA To Retire, I won’t Let It Happen

“Well, if the truth makes waves, we’re going to make waves. That’s just the way it is. If that puts a target on your back, Nick’s going to put a target on his back. Because we’re not going to back down from a system that wants you to lie constantly, that wants you to dodge things, wants you to pretend. The whole thing is about pretending. I can tell you, all these UFC guys, they’re out there smoking. I mean, I see them. They smoke marijuana and then they take these chemicals — and when I say chemicals, it’s that stuff you can buy over the counter and that guarantees you’re going to pass the test. It masks it. It masks it in your urine so that the metabolites don’t show, and you can just take one of those.

“You go, ‘Well, why didn’t Nick take one of those?’ Because Nick is such a purist when it comes to his diet that he’ll look at something like that and he goes, ‘Well, this contains artificial dyes or artificial flavors, artificial this and that,’ and then he doesn’t want to do it. It drives me crazy. I’m like, ‘Nick, just take this, and you’ll be like all these other UFC guys that are smoking and are taking it,’ but he won’t do that because he thinks it’s bad for his body.”

“He’s sick of the politics, the whole marijuana thing, the judges … . It’s kind of a weird thing, but let’s face it: I’m not going to let that guy quit. I just don’t see that happening. He’s too good and he’s too important in this sport, I think. If it’s up to me, there’s no way that’s going to happen.”

Famed manager/coach of the Diaz Brothers, Cesar Gracie recently updated about the status of his star pupil, Nick Diaz.

Legalize weed its not killing or doing any damage to anybody

  2. Onlycommenteverposted says:

Bj was right ufc hypes fights. on the same day I saw Jake shields and jon jones in Boca raton on friday mar. 23. Asked jake what he was doin, said he was training at imperial. didnt talk to jon because he was walking his dog at palmetto beach but im almost 100 percent sure that he trains with rashad still and that they are friends, its all fake.

    • Dude says:

You’re an idiot to say ufc is fake.. gtfo of here and go watch wwe or something you’re no fan of this sport

      • Bla DeBla says:

Just coz he isnt a fan of the hype doesnt mean he isnt a fan of the sport & the way the UFC behaves its very difficult to consider its version of MMA a sport when at times it appears to be more “Sport-Entertainment” like the WWE.

      • Dick Niaz says:

@Dude…. you are one dumb motherfucker. He isn’t saying UFC is fake, he’s saying the hype/drama is fake.

Now put your fucking helmet on and stay away from sharp objects.

      • Turkeykneck fun chav says:

speshul guy you are, can you count to potato?

hes saying the drama behind it is bullshit. it probably is, i dont care too much as i want to see peoples faces get pounded and arms broken for my sick enjoyment.

hes just saying dont believe the hype

    • darren says:

im sure jon and rashad are training together for their fight

      • Bla DeBla says:

What if its not a fight tho ?

What if its a scripted act of performance art between two contracted employes of a media company’s (ZUFFA) MMA Promotions company (The UFC) ?

Would you be even more sure or would you be less uncertain ?

      • Dick Niaz says:

My secret insider source told me that Rashad and JBJ are training together for this fight.

They have a team which includes Motivated Bj Penn, the Old Vitor, and Healthy Shogun… so yall better watch out…. for the WHITEZILLIANS

    • Carlos says:

dude that makes no sense so what. nothing in what you said indicates the rashad jones fued is fake??

      • Turkeykneck fun chav says:

        completely plausable though
this whole “was like a brother” bullshit thats coming out like rashad is buthurt and Jon jones doing the old turnhead talk to the side of my face like a bitch routein just seems a little played out.
        “all of sudden”

no one noticed with every championsip now there some sort of ridiculous over exadurated drama over petty shit tied to it.
        its got worse over time.

  3. GreenTeaBagger says:

Read “if he retires, I dont have a career, so i wont let him retire”

  4. McLovin says:

Just play the game Nick! I am a Diaz fan, but it’s kinda hard to still like him when he’s whining about such trivial shit.

    • Thurgood Jenkins says:

I’m a Diaz fan too, and I can see your point. But I can’t really recall Nick actually saying anything himself since the Condit-Daz post-fight interview. Seems like Gracie is doing all the talking.

      • Thurgood Jenkins says:

Then again, I could be wrong. There could be an article or interview that I missed.

      • Joe Bidden says:

Cesar always talks for him. And Cesar always makes them seem like a bunch of goddamn retards.

Diaz needs to find a new camp. Cesar is all wind and talks way too much shit. This entire interview proves it. Complete and total horseshit, I guarantee it.

Not every UFC fighter smokes, just like not every non-athlete smokes. I’m sure some do, but all of them? Gracie needs to just stfu and go train Diaz and not spout bullshit all day. “Oh…Uh…They have these things that mask it and uh…they all do it. But not Nick. Nope. He’s all truth!”

        • Quit getting your panties in a bunch says:

Actually, they do have stuff that masks it. Plus it’s a well-known fact that Diaz is crazy about his health so that story is very probable.

        • Thurgood Jenkins says:

Since he tested positive, Tyson Griffin is the only other fighter that has been exposed for smoking (that I know of), but all the attention is still on Nick because of the appeal. I think this comment is attempting to divert fans’ impressions of marijuana use as related to Diaz by proving use is widespread and not strictly limited to a select few. It’s probably a sound tactic moving forward: Making it seem like it is normal among MMA personalities, so NSAC should neglect handing out severe sanctions and possibly rethink its whole stance on the issue.

That being said, Gracie may see a few other fighters smoking here and there, but I’m sure it’s not as many as he claims. I just don’t get that feeling with most fighters do it because I think you can usually tell. You look at Diaz though, you know he straight-up burns. I wouldn’t doubt that he naturally cleanses either.

  5. Xaninho says:

    Spoken like a true pimp.

Nick Diaz is his number one cash cow, ofcourse he wants him to continue and make him some more money.

    • THOM BJJ says:

obivously theres more to it than that when you consider the fact Nick joined his gym at the age of 16 when Nick made Cesar no money at all.. Dont judge people based on your own little imagination so quickly, but think about what you’re saying.. Really its all about the money? Lol if that was the case he’d just force Nick into boxing where he’d make 10x what he’s making now.

      • Xaninho says:

        He’d be a can.

His boxing is alright when he faces a wrestler or some other MMA fighter with no real stand-up skills, but real boxers with really crisp boxing? He wouldn’t be making the big bucks.

      • Dick Niaz says:

        he’d make 10x as much in boxing… oh gawd…

please for the love of jebus tell me you aren’t dumb enough to actually believe that…. say you were high as fuck when you wrote it or your little brother got on the computer while you were taking a shit or something…

        • fooskinator says:

hahaha, that was the best shit I read all day

        • THOM BJJ says:

”dick niaz”.. just do us all a favor and stfu, ofcourse he’d make more money in boxing than he would in these mma fights.. Sure UFC paid him decently but he barely made any money in strikeforce, Cesar and Nick said it themselves, they would make more money in boxing… Dumbass news section trolls.

        • Bla DeBla says:

Yea coz boxing isnt a specialized sport at all , anyone who can throw a punch can make millions at it , especially two jack of all trades like the Diaz’s , its easy .

        • Dick Niaz says:

so you really are that dumb…. I feel bad for you now.

nobody gives an actual fuck about watching Nick Diaz get smoked by unranked boxers, and if they put him in the ring with a real boxer, who would never want to take the risk of that freakshow match, he’d get DESTROYED…

          Let’s break it down here

Non existent footwork + No power + No Pro boxing experience = Nick Diaz is not a boxer

Caesar Gracie can say whatever he wants (if you haven’t noticed, he is not a rocket scientist) but it would make more sense for that whole more money in boxing thing to be a weak attempt to try and leverage a better contract from the UFC, where people actually want to see him fight.

In closing, you are a dumb fuck

          -Dick Niaz

        • THOM BJJ says:

nick does have pro boxing expierence you moron, and it isnt about winning or losing, nicks boxing return would make him more money than any mma fight he’s ever had. Keep your e-thug bullshit to yourself no ones impressed by it. and to bla debla, i box myself, so you can stfu up too. would nick be a boxing champ? probably not, but thats not my point, my point is that there are boxing organisations out there who would offer nick a lot of money to fight for them, atleast thats according to Cesar Gracie.. You wanna call Gracie a liar? fine, thats your business, but i believe him.

    • jbeamazing says:

      that was pimpish lol

  6. James says:

Nick Diaz is the man, even with his emotional issues. Smoking weed should be a non issue for athletes. I don’t think UFC is flat out rigged like WWF. Sometimes I do wonder if it could be occasionally tilted like pro boxing. Some of the Japanese orgs were blatantly rigging fights. If the UFC does it I think it is more through the refs and judges than flat out dives.

  7. jbeamazing says:

love nick but the guy has to deal with world class fighter these days not the Scott smiths of the world anymore and I love a slug fest as much as the next guy but on that level where the tittle shot or the tittle is on the line these world class fighters are going to game plan around there opponents strengths and go for there weakness I thought the first guy to frustrate Nick in the octagon would of been a wrestler like gsp holding him down but I guess there are other ways to beat him even tho Carlos did nothing in that fight but lets be real Nick did nothing as well

  8. dave winger says:

u can c it in cesars eyes “i wont let u retire even if i must get u stone hardcore and rape u u will not retire dammit u summa bitsh…i cant quit u”

      • Nimbus says:

Wow good job spelling bee champion…BYE? Don’t you mean by! Also RETIRER? Might what to spell check before you go hating on some stoners writing.

        • Todd says:

You’re an idiot! “Might what to spell check”? How about doing the same, professor!

        • K2 says:

Don’t you mean question mark? Might want to proof read, spelling the wrong word right isn’t much better either. Former stoner’s writing…..

      • loveboat says:

homie spell check you look like a fool. don’t you mean by not bye. and what the hell is retirer, again i think you meant to put retire.

  9. Todd says:

Why do we constantly need to hear about what Cesar Gracie has to say? Enoughs enough. His word isn’t the final word!

    • greg brady says:

sadly some of these Gracie’s are idiots and they get a platform to speak because of their last name. The only Gracie I listen to is Royce. Cesar is just a bag of wind these days

      • BlueDemonica says:

Totally agree. Royce has earned it more so than Cesar I think. I’m rather sure Nick Diaz can speak for himself, if he wants. Cesar needs to shut up, he’s only making it worse and the issue more retarded than it already is.

  10. Nick says:

Makes sense. Cesar wants his money, but Nick is so critical about his body, what he eats, and what he puts in it.

  11. CesarStoopidAgain says:

Lol.. im sure the commission tests for masking agents, A-lot of the over the counter masking agents are banned.. The things that are not banned, havent been made yet

  12. Chypame says:

Mr. Gracie, what you’ve just said is one of the most insanely idiotic things I have ever heard. At no point in your rambling, incoherent response, were you even close to anything that could be considered a rational thought. Everyone in this forum is now dumber for having read this article. I say you Failed big time, and May God have Mercy on your Soul!
    Smoke weeeeeed, every day.

  14. Turkeykneck fun chav says:

hes a bit of a tard, hes just admitted to telling diaz its ok to do things cos he believes other people are doing it.
its ok to cheat the system cos other people are cheating the system!!!!1
    what next?
its ok to take steroids and take pct to hide it as he believes GSP is taking it?

    cmon now.

i believe Ganja should be legal, should be accepted in sport as its a non issue but cmon cesar, you are a retard

    • Bla DeBla says:

So yer calling Gracie a hypocrite .

Then you turn around & say that Ganja should be legal & accepted in sport .

So its a case of a hypocrite calling a hypocrite a hypocrite .

You are saying that fighters who take chemicals to alter their natural state are cheating the system but fighters who are in an altered state due to Ganja use aren’t simply because you like Ganja .

Leban got banned for painkillers , Ganja is prescribed for the pain relief of Arthritis & other chronic illness’s .

Beta blockers are banned because they reduce the stress levels of a fighter & help him focus , Ganja is used by junkies to reduce stress levels & help them focus .

Its a fucking narcotic no different to heroin .

You are either an idiot or a hypocrite , or both .

Either way you talk complete shit .

      • Turkeykneck fun chav says:

no im not saying that you fucking spastic
I dont even smoke weed anymore
what im saying is he shouldnt tell people to cheat the system
he should obide by the rules sanction untill those rules are lifted

this doesnt mean the system isnt flawed and i have to agree with the rules made with in it

i swear you make up your own versions of what people say just so you can have an argument.
swear your e-peen is so big you can suck your own dick without tilting your head toward your crotch area.

        suck a fat one

        • Bla DeBla says:

That ^^^ is the sound of an ego crash landing .

If you dont smoke weed anymore but you consider it harmless & you think it should be legalized & you think it should be accepted in sport ?…

Then why the hell did you stop using it ?

If you dont agree with the system why are you criticizing Gracie ?

You are a hypocrite & no amount of publicizing yer fantasy’s about my cock & what I can do with it are going to chance that fact .

        • Turkeykneck fun chav says:

no you fucking douche, im not one with an ego. you are and you are purposefully missenturpiting shit for your own self groth of ego.

i stopped smoking weed because i stopped smoking cigarrettes, i liked the act of smoking so if i kept smoking weed i would continue the cigs.
          it also made me lathargic.
anything is harmfull in moderation but i dont believe its a performance enhancing drug any more than paracetamol or ibuprofen.

I believe the laws should be changed to take into account the use of cannabis for medical reasons or even casual use.

I dont however agree that someone who chooses to fight under the rules sanctioned for a sport/job of which they are a professional can decide to break those rules and then take a chemical to hide they fact they have broken that rule.
I dont agree with gracie telling his fighters openly to break rules and fool the system.

thats not hypocritical, thats saying things should be done in a certain way and if you dont like it challenge it untill it changes and if you cant get it changed and still are not happy then go somewhere else

        • Bla DeBla says:

Such a hypocritical load of shit !

So Gracie speaking out against the system he disagrees with isnt him challenging it ?

And you stopped using ganja because of its negative affects on you .

        • Turkeykneck fun chav says:

douche, the only negative effect it has was laziness.

you clearly are not reading me or reading what gracie said.
i have no problem with him speaking out against the system
          what gracie said was this.
“It drives me crazy. I’m like, ‘Nick, just take this, and you’ll be like all these other UFC guys that are smoking and are taking it,’ ”
hes basically telling his fighter to hide it from the system because he believes other fighters are doing the same.
as a trainer you think its acceptable to allow your fighter who you manage, to do something that is sanctioned as illegal and then try and hide it from the system????

thats not hypocritical at all, gracie calls loads of peoples cheats but hes asking his own fighter to do the same????
          youve just messed yourself up

        • Bla DeBla says:

I dont no such thing I only highlighted the hypocrisy & stupidity of your claims .

Basically you are now claiming that you think a system you disagree with should be challenged but when men like Cesar Gracie do just that it becomes “Wrong” because you dont like his method of challenging it .

        • Turkeykneck fun chav says:

clearly you dont read or dont understand the diffence.
challenging something is not the same as hiding something.
i agree with him challenging it.
i dont agree with him telling his fighters to take another substance to circumvent being caught.

        • Bla DeBla says:

          H-Y-P-O-C-R-I-T-E ^^^

  15. McCombski says:

Idc if you somoke weed or not i think it should be legal though. But its not so in the mean time either smoke it and take the responsiblites of doing something illigal or dont smoke it. Im sick fo listing to nick and cesar bitch about it! Nick you got caught now man up and take responsibiltiy for it and stop bitching about how it should be legal… well bitch all u want but that doset change the fact of the matter.

  16. upunk says:

dick diaz u fukin diaz hater, y u always comment on nick diaz if u dont like him. stop commenting ur bullshit !

  17. Novak says:

Ceasar never shuts up does he, him and the other gracies are just riding on the coattails of their last name. I think Nick has a mouth because he does like to talk shit. If I want to hear something from a Gracie let it be Royce because he is the last one to prove he deserves the last name. If Nick wants to quit let him, I’m more than sure he can find another pot smoking pissed off kid in the street that he can train to leach money off of.

  18. Bla DeBla says:

I didnt say it was the same as a heroin overdose , I said its a classified narcotic no different to heroin .

Stop trying to twist my words .
