Cesar Gracie downplays Nick Diaz’s tax statement | UFC NEWS
As more and more people wonder if Nick Diaz will be squaring off against the Internal Revenue Service, his rep, Cesar Gracie, gave a different explanation.
On Monday Gracie told MMAjunkie.com, “Nick is a little crazy, but he has paid his taxes.”
This all began when at the UFC 158 post fight presser Nick Diaz, who lost his title shot to Georges St. Pierre earlier that night, came out and announced he has never paid taxes in his life. This came as a shock to everyone in the room, including UFC President Dana White. Gracie has said that Diaz was misinformed, and has paid taxes in excess of $100,000 over the last two years.
MMAJunki.com was even able to dig up Jonathan Tweedale, a lawyer who is said to have personal relationship with Diaz, and got this explanation.
“Nick thought Cesar (Gracie) was taking care of (taxes) for him, and Cesar wasn’t,” he said. “It doesn’t mean Nick is (in trouble), but it does mean things need to be figured out.”
Gracie dismissed the statement by Tweedale, and he has referred Diaz to several accountants.
“He never went to see them,” Gracie said. “His girlfriend and his previous girlfriend have taken him to see CPAs. What they did with that is none of my business. “He’s a grown man.”
Diaz should receive a fairly large amount from his UFC 158 fight, his purse combined with the fact he gets a share of the PPV buys should equal to a hefty payday.
“He should have never made that statement,” Gracie said. “He should have just gotten an accountant and paid his taxes. He made a lot of money for this fight. Just get yourself squared away, bro. You’re there for a fight. You’re going to start talking about taxes? It’s like, huh?”

I have a feeling Nick Diaz isn’t happy with the way Cesar Gracie handles his shit anymore. He complained about his trainingcamp and now Cesar is pinting fingers at Diaz for messing up the tax issue. What did Cesar do with his cut of the profits? Cesar Gracie manages his fighters doesn’t he? Isn’t a manager supposed to take care of things like taxes and shit? Why does a fighter need manager is he ends up doing all this other stuff next to fighting anyway? A manager is there to take that crap off a fighter’s hands.
I think Cesar Gracie and is becoming if not already became a cancer to nick diaz .. He says I’m his manager but the truth when we see that the only thing that makes it stop is to take advantage of Fame nick and so to collect your money
i feel bad for nick, the media and UFC makes him out to be this bad guy. then you have cesar gracie that doesnt really care about his fighter or his finances. i think nick needs to bail out from that camp and try a new camp and new managers. nick is a great talent the guy just need guidence and its all too obvious that he isnt getting it from gracie!
