CES MMA Real Pain: Dave Bautista vs. Vince Lucero Results
Dave Bautista vs. Vince Lucero- Super Heavyweights:
Lucero came out first and looked every bit the last minute replacement he is, but let’s give credit where credit due. He bailed CES big time by taking this fight.
Bautista was out next and the crowd was standing in anticipation of his arrival to the cage. His walkout song was Frank Sinatra’s, “I did it my way” There was a girl standing at the entrance ramp for what seemed like forever as the crowd started to get antsy waiting for the former WWE superstar. We had to wait through that song as well as a song from the Wu-Tang Clans “The RZA,” which is part of the movie Batista is in.
When he finally came out the crowd gave him a mixture of cheers and boos. He certainly had a big enough entourage with him. He is completely shredded and looks as good as he ever did while he was with the WWE. I would say that it took him ten minutes to enter the cage from the time his music initially hit.
Round One:
Lucero lands a few big shots immediately to Batista’s face which buckled his legs, before pressing him up against the fence. They exchange again with Lucero landing the more damaging blows. Batista is backing up as Lucero stalks him. They clinch up against the cage again and Batista reverses pushing Lucero up against the cage. Lucero is waving to the crowd!!! Batista with the takedown into side control, he is trying for a crucifix and now has a back mount. He is landing punches to Lucero’s head and is now looking for a choke. He is pounding Lucero’s head and the ref steps in and stops the fight. The crowd is pissed!! They are booing Batista!! Lucero claims Batista hit him in the back of the head.
Afterwards Batista tells Lauzon that Lucero hit like a f*****g horse and he was nervous, but now that he got his first fight out the way he is ready to move on with his MMA career. The crowd was not happy with Batista’s performance or the way he acted on his way to the ring. It will be interesting to see the PPV numbers. The arena was probably about 2/3 full with many of the fans there to support local fighters.
