Tyron Woodley not open to Leon Edwards fight because he isn't 'a gatekeeper'

Cole Shelton - September 30, 2019

Former UFC welterweight champion Tyron Woodley is not interested in fighting Leon Edwards. ‘The Chosen One’ has not fought since he lost his title at UFC 235 in March to Kamaru Usman. Tyron Woodley was dominated in that fight and admitted he did not look like himself. But, given the fight was not that competitive, him getting a rematch may be out of the question.

Former Jackson-Wink striking coach goes ballistic on Jon Jones and Mike Winkeljohn

Adam Martin - September 30, 2019

Former Jackson-Wink striking coach Frank Lester wrote a scathing post on his social media ripping coach Mike Winkeljohn and UFC light heavyweight champion Jon Jones. In the post, Lester said that both Winkeljohn and Jones did him “dirtier” than anyone else ever has, and accused Jones of owing him $13,000 in payment for duties from his last title fight. Lester says he is no longer part of the team as a result.

Report | Warrant issued for Anthony "Rumble" Johnson

Adam Martin - September 30, 2019

A warrant has been issued for former UFC light heavyweight contender Anthony “Rumble” Johnson. The news is according to a report by BloodyElbow.com’s Tim Bissell. According to the article, on September 27, Palm Beach County issued the warrant for Johnson. Court documents revealed that the reason for the warrant’s issue was due to Johnson missing a scheduled appointment for a misdemeanour domestic battery charge that Johnson had received earlier this year. The report says that Johnson had recently accepted a plea deal and also completed a court-ordered anger management program before the warrant was issued after he missed his appointment.

Thomas Taylor - September 30, 2019

Former UFC middleweight champion Chris Weidman is set to make his debut in the light heavyweight division when he takes on Dominick Reyes at UFC Boston — and he’s already thinking about a potential title fight with light heavyweight champ Jon Jones. “I don’t think he’s looked that good, I don’t think he’s looked as dangerous,” Weidman said of Jones on a recent episode of Submission Radio. “He’s not finishing, and I see there’s a lot of… he’s great, but I see there’s definitely holes in there.

Jorge Masvidal made his way into the UFC history books at UFC 239 when he zapped the formerly undefeated Ben Askren in a record-shattering five seconds. Now, this incredible victory is being immortalized with a mural at American Top Team, Masvidal’s long-time gym. This Masvidal mural is being done artist Ross Baines. Baines has already painted a small-scale version of the image that will ultimately end up on the wall of American Top Team.

Aljamain Sterling on Mark Madsen: 'Good luck selling that outside of Denmark’

Natasha Hooper - September 30, 2019

Aljamain Sterling isn’t convinced Mark Madsen has the personality to become a name in the UFC. The ‘Funk Master’ gave his take on the Danish fighter who made his debut in the co-main event of UFC Copenhagen last Saturday. Beast of a fighter and athlete but the personality… idk how gravitating that will be for the UFC. I mean no disrespect by this, but good luck selling that outside of Denmark

Gegard Mousasi explains why he believes Rafael Lovato Jr. is on steroids

Natasha Hooper - September 30, 2019

According to Gegard Mousasi, there is one telltale sign that gives away Bellator middleweight champ Rafael Lovato Jr.’s alleged PED-use use. The Iranian-Dutchman believes the middleweight’s nipples are dead giveaway. Mousasi once again lobbed some accusations in Lovato’s direction after Saturday’s Bellator 228 card, where he defeated Lyoto Machida by decision.

Josh Barnett wants Bellator to hold one-night heavyweight legends tournament

Adam Martin - September 30, 2019

Josh Barnett is interested in a potential Bellator heavyweight legends tournament, and if it happens he hopes the tournament takes place during one night. Barnett was signed by Bellator earlier this year after the UFC released him following a dispute with USADA. He hasn’t fought in three years, and is rumored to be making his return on the year-end Bellator/RIZIN card, though that’s not official just yet.

Ben Askren determined to handle loss better than Ronda Rousey

Tom Taylor - September 30, 2019

Ben Askren recently had his first taste of defeat as a pro mixed martial artist. This bitter dish was served up by Jorge Masvidal, who finished the pair’s UFC 239 fight with a flying knee knockout in just five seconds. While it’s hard to imagine a more brutal way to lose, Askren has been extremely open about this setback. That, he says, is by design. He feels anything else would have been counterproductive, and he points to the career-ending losses of Ronda Rousey as proof of that.

Urijah Faber ready to 'even things out' with TJ Dillashaw

Natasha Hooper - September 30, 2019

Now Urijah Faber is back to doing what he does best, there are plenty of potential opponents for him to pick from…and who better to choose than his former teammate turned foe, TJ Dillashaw. The UFC vet believes 2021 could be the time to defeat Dillashaw and “even things out.” “The California Kid” returned from retirement with a swift and successful defeat against Ricky Simon in July. Faber believes his extensive track record is enough to earn him a title shot against Henry Cejudo, but a battle against his former training partner could also be in the cards.

UFC 243 | Robert Whittaker plans on exploiting Israel Adesanya's striking defense

Cole Shelton - September 30, 2019

Robert Whittaker sees a clear path to victory against Israel Adesanya and it is not by using his wrestling as some would expect. At UFC 243, the UFC middleweight champion will return to the Octagon for the first time since June of 2018. He will make his return against the interim champ in Adesanya. It is a highly anticipated fight between an Australian and a Kiwi in Adesanya, and it’s being billed as the biggest fight in Oceanic history.

Gilbert Burns offers to take short-notice middleweight fight

Tom Taylor - September 30, 2019

Long-time lightweight contender Gilbert Burns is now 2-0 in short-notice welterweight fights. Having discovered how well he performs in these short-notice fights, Burns is now angling to take another — in the middleweight division. When Eric Spicely was forced out of his UFC Boston showdown with Brendan Allen, Burns promptly offered to step in and replace him — despite the fact that the fight will be contested a full 30 pounds above his former division. And in case you thought he was kidding, he assures he’s not.

Tyron Woodley: I'm a nightmare for Kamaru Usman 'every day of the week’

Tom Taylor - September 30, 2019

When Tyron Woodley and Kamaru Usman first shared the cage, Usman walked away with a unanimous decision victory. Yet Woodley is not convinced Usman is the better fighter. “When you watch the Kamaru Usman fight, I don’t have to watch it. It was a silhouette of Tyron in the Octagon or something happened when I jumped up and stomped down, I think my spirit left my body,” Woodley said during a recent fan Q&A (via MMA Fighting). “I can give him credit for what he did. He stayed focused, he executed but we all know that wasn’t Tyron Woodley.
