Although the respect levels for his opponent were at an all-time high, Manny Muro had other ideas. Despite being as high as a +550 underdog heading into this past weekend’s event at Mohegan Sun in Uncasville, Conn., Muro overcame a tough opening round to pick up a split decision win over Newell, much to the dismay of the pro-Newell crowd.

John Kavanagh says his pupil Conor McGregor will have a fight announcement very soon. McGregor recently said he will return on Jan. 18 but wouldn’t reveal an opponent. Rumors started to swirl that it was Donald Cerrone, yet Kavanagh wouldn’t confirm. Rather, he says the fight is agreed to.

Ben Askren’s fighting future will boil down to how “Funky” is feeling mentally, at least that’s what Chael Sonnen believes. Askren has dropped back-to-back bouts and was stopped in both outings. He suffered a record-setting knockout loss to Jorge Masvidal back in July and was choked out by Demian Maia at UFC Singapore. Askren recently admitted to ESPN’s Ariel Helwani that he is considering retirement.

The rivalry between former UFC heavyweight champions Cain Velasquez and Brock Lesnar continued at the WWE’s Crown Jewel in Saudi Arabia on Thursday. While Velasquez won the pair’s first encounter — an actual fight — via first-round TKO, Lesnar won the scripted rematch with a kimura in similarly abrupt fashion.

He is motivated to give a better performance this time around, knowing he will be performing in front of his countrymen.

Top UFC lightweight contender Justin Gaethje went on the offensive against superstar Conor McGregor, saying the Irishman is a ‘b*tch’ for not fighting him. UFC president Dana White revealed on Wednesday that the UFC is currently in negotiations for McGregor’s comeback fight to be against Donald Cerrone and not Gaethje. Considering Gaethje just knocked Cerrone out at UFC Vancouver in September, it’s no surprise “The Highlight” is upset he’s not the one getting the fight with McGregor instead.

This did not sit well with Costa, who defeated Romero with a razor close decision in August. Shortly after Romero targeted Adesanya on Instagram, he got a response from Costa.

UFC middleweight contender Kelvin Gastelum has said that he isn’t really concerned about Darren Till’s visa issues, as “The Gorilla” confirms that he is en route to New York City for UFC 244. The two men are set to square off in the co-main event of Saturday night’s card at Madison Square Garden in what will serve as Till’s middleweight debut in the UFC. However, the fight was in jeopardy earlier this week as the Englishman was unable to make it to the United States on time for his full fight week commitments.

Well, it turns out he had a major injury and that is why he will return to the Octagon nine months later.

UFC president Dana White has confirmed the promotion is looking to book superstar Conor McGregor against fan favorite Donald Cerrone for the first pay-per-view event of 2020. The card, which will take place on January 18, is expected to be called UFC 246. It will take place at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada. Cerrone recently said he was in talks for the fight against McGregor, and now we have official confirmation by Dana White himself.

An absolute banger of a welterweight fight is the latest addition to UFC 245 as fan favorite Mike Perry takes on Geoff Neal in what is sure to be a war. ESPN’s Ariel Helwani confirmed the Perry vs. Neal booking for UFC 245, which takes place on December 14 at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada. The bout has been rumored on social media in recent days, and now it’s nearly official. According to Helwani, verbal agreements are in place for the bout, and the UFC should make it official shortly.

It didn’t pan out for him as he was submitted in the third round via rear-naked choke.
