Jon Jones weighs in on Conor McGregor vs. Donald Cerrone matchup

Jon Jones is a former training partner of Donald “Cowboy” Cerrone, and an acquaintance and admirer of Conor McGregor. As such, the reigning UFC light heavyweight champion was reluctant to make a prediction for McGregor and Cerrone’s UFC 246 fight when he was asked to do so by BT Sport. Here’s what Jones had to say instead.

Conor McGregor has made it to Las Vegas for his UFC 246 fight with Donald “Cowboy” Cerrone, and according to UFC doctors, he’s in “phenomenal shape.” At least, that’s what UFC President Dana White says he’s heard.
Dillon Danis could be unable to corner Conor McGregor at UFC 246

BJJ ace Dillon Danis is one of Conor McGregor’s key training partners, and has undoubtedly been particularly valuable as McGregor prepares for the submission chops of Donald Cerrone. Unfortunately, there is a small barrier to Danis actually being able to corner McGregor for his fight wth Cerrone, which tops the UFC 246 card this Saturday. According to Kevin Iole, who spoke to Nevada Athletic Commission director Bob Bennett, Danis still owes the state of Nevada $7,500 for his role in the infamous UFC 229 brawl between McGregor and Khabib Nurmagomedov’s teams.

This weekend, in the main event of UFC 246, Conor McGregor will return to the Octagon for a welterweight scrap with Donald “Cowboy” Cerrone. Kamaru Usman, the welterweight division’s current champion, will be watching this fight very closely. Speaking during a live chat with his fans on social media, Usman weighed in on this McGregor vs. Cerrone fight. Like many members of the MMA community, he favors McGregor early and Cerrone if the fight goes into the later rounds, and based his prediction on that.

Budweiser has released a special ‘Cowboy’ can for Donald Cerrone in the leadup to his fight at UFC 246 next weekend against Conor McGregor. Cerrone takes on McGregor in the main event of UFC 246, which takes place next Saturday, January 18 at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada. The event sold out its tickets in mere minutes and is expected to be a huge pay-per-view blockbuster event for the UFC that could sell several million pay-per-views.

UFC superstar Conor McGregor is promising his fans that he will “create magic inside the Octagon” at UFC 246 next weekend. McGregor takes on Donald Cerrone in what is one of the most highly-anticipated fights of 2020. It’s McGregor’s first fight since he lost to UFC lightweight champion Khabib Nurmagomedov at UFC 229 in October 2018. He sat out the entirety of 2019 due to a suspension and legal troubles outside of the Octagon.

A new video showing UFC welterweight contender Colby Covington playing pickup basketball seems to show that his recently broken jaw is healing up nicely. Covington suffered a jaw fracture during his epic welterweight title fight against champion Kamaru Usman at UFC 245, which he lost via fifth-round TKO. After the fight, Covington ran out of the Octagon backstage and was criticized by fans, media and fellow fighters online for doing so.

According to a report from MMAjunkie.com, Harris would like to return to active competition this spring, though an opponent has not been finalized yet.
Paulo Costa says Israel Adesanya is easier fight than Uriah Hall

Top contender Paulo Costa says that believes UFC middleweight champion Israel Adesanya is an easier fight for him than Uriah Hall was. Costa knocked out Hall at UFC 226 in July 2018 in one of the best performances of his career. After defeating Yoel Romero in a 2019 “Fight of the Year” candidate at UFC 241, Costa was set to fight Adesanya for the middleweight belt. But due to injuries, Costa will not be able to fight Adesanya next, and Romero seems poised to get the next title shot instead.

UFC Hall of Famer Michael Bisping says that his Twitter was hacked and he plans on speaking to whoever it was that hacked his social media. Bisping took to his Twitter to alert his fans that he had been hacked. By tweeting about it, it appears as though Bisping was able to get his account back unscathed.
Paul Daley fired from role as Bellator television analyst

Welterweight contender Paul Daley says that he has been fired from his role as a television analyst for the Bellator MMA promotion. Daley was one of Bellator’s television analysts for its European Series in 2019. However, he will not be continuing in that role in 2020 as “Semtex” himself announced on his Instagram he was fired from the gig. Here’s what Daley told his fans.

UFC middleweight star Darren Till is currently awaiting his next fight booking, and he is now teasing a return at UFC 248. Till is coming off of a split decision win over Kelvin Gastelum at UFC 244 in what was his official UFC middleweight debut. He is currently ranked No. 5 overall in the UFC’s 185lbs rankings, so he should be in line for a big fight his next time out.

Julianna Pena vs. Aspen Ladd added to UFC Columbus

An intriguing women’s bantamweight bout between top contenders Julianna Pena and Aspen Ladd has been added to UFC Columbus. UFC on ESPN 8 takes place Saturday, March 28 at Nationwide Arena in Columbus, Ohio. The main event is a heavyweight bout between title contenders Francis Ngannou and Jairzinho Rozenstruik. Pena vs. Ladd is expected to take place on the main card.
Colby Covington eyeing April or May return after UFC 245 loss

Colby Covington is looking to get back into the Octagon in the early part of 2020. Covington is coming off a UFC 245 TKO loss to Kamaru Usman where he also broke his jaw. Yet, some reports were uncertain if his jaw was really broken, but American Top Team owner, Dan Lambert, confirms it was fractured. He also says “Chaos” will indeed return to the gym despite Jorge Masvidal saying otherwise.
