Former UFC champion Tito Ortiz has resigned from his position on the Huntington Beach City Council after just seven months in the job. Ever since he was sworn into power in the wake of the 2020 elections, Ortiz has been embroiled in a string of controversies courtesy of his views and comments related to the COVID-19 pandemic. Some of the issues have stretched far beyond this but in general, his arguments with fellow members of the council have focused on his views regarding masks and ranting about how the pandemic is playing out.

Heavyweight Renan Ferreira called the matchmaking in PFL “very shady” and claims the promotion favors rival Fabricio Werdum. Ferreira picked up the biggest win of his career when he finished Werdum with strikes in a big upset at PFL 3 last month, but the result of the contest was overturned to a No Contest. The New Jersey Athletic Control Board ruled that Ferreira had tapped out to a submission attempt from Werdum moments before the finish happened. Ferreira remains adamant that he never tapped, but video evidence appeared to be inconclusive either way. Regardless, the result of the fight was overturned, which means Ferreira gets one point instead of six in the PFL heavyweight bracket. Werdum also gets one point due to the overturned result.

The UFC legend struggled in the last few years of his career in the Octagon and UFC president Dana White decided to give the 45-year-old Silva his release from the promotion. Former UFC light heavyweight champion Shogun Rua says that he wants to fight two more times inside the Octagon before he hangs up his gloves. Shogun hasn’t fought since UFC 255 last November when he suffered a stoppage loss to Paul Craig. Following that defeat, UFC president Dana White hinted that the former PRIDE star had retired from MMA. But according to the Brazilian himself, he is not officially retired yet. In fact, the 39-year-old legend of the sport says that he still wants to fight twice more.
