UFC lightweight Justin Gaethje says “I have to fight the winner of Charles Oliveira and Dustin Poirier to justify the integrity of (MMA).” Gaethje defeated Michael Chandler via unanimous decision in a “Fight of the Year” candidate at UFC 268 last weekend in New York City. It was a phenomenal fight by both men, who went the distance in an all-out war, but at the end of the 15 minutes, it was Gaethje who was the winner on the judges’ scorecards. He maintains his No. 2 spot in the UFC lightweight division rankings and he hopes that it’s enough for him to get the next title shot against the winner of UFC 269’s Dustin Poirier vs. Charles Oliveira fight.

MMA analyst Chael Sonnen reacted after former UFC lightweight champion Frankie Edgar suffered a KO loss to Marlon Vera at UFC 268. The first round saw Edgar control Vera with his wrestling and take it, while the second round saw Edgar do some more work with his grappling before Vera came back to steal it late. Two of the judges had the fight 1-1 and another had it 2-0 for Edgar heading into the third and final round, but the judges were taken out of the equation when Vera connected on a brutal front kick and knocked Edgar out late in the third stanza.

Adam D Martin - November 12, 2021

McGregor often gets into it on social media with his fellow fighters, and that was the case again on Thursday evening when he got into it with Masvidal. McGregor had some strong words to say about “Gamebred” for pulling out of his upcoming welterweight fight against Leon Edwards at UFC 269, and the two then got into a little bit of a back-and-forth on social media. In addition to going back-and-forth with Masvidal, McGregor also had a surprising run-in with Yan, the interim UFC bantamweight champion. Check out what McGregor said to both fighters below during his latest Twitter sparring session.

Scott Coker expresses interest in Kayla Harrison, says she'll be at Bellator 271

Drake Riggs - November 11, 2021

Kayla Harrison is one of the biggest free agents MMA has had perhaps since Michael Chandler. Unsurprisingly, Bellator President Scott Coker has some interest. Bellator’s featherweight division has proven to be unmatched over the years – simply due to them having the vast majority of competitors worldwide that make it up. Harrison, a lightweight throughout her career with the exception of one bout, will likely be on her way back down to 145-pounds if she so chooses not to stick with the PFL as her fighting home.

Frankie Edgar believes referee stopped fight too early against Marlon Vera at UFC 268

Adam D Martin - November 11, 2021

UFC bantamweight contender Frankie Edgar believes that the referee stopped his fight too early against Marlon Vera at UFC 268. Edgar suffered a brutal third-round knockout loss when Vera connected on a brutal front kick to the jaw that sat Edgar down to the mat. However, when speaking on the Champ and The Tramp podcast, Edgar admitted that he feels referee Todd Anderson stopped the fight too early. As far as Edgar goes, he was still in the fight, and when he looks at some of the other fights at UFC 268 that weren’t stopped, he was unhappy the referee did so.

Nick Diaz offers to step up on short notice against Leon Edwards

Adam D Martin - November 11, 2021

However, Masvidal was forced to pull out of the fight due to an injury, and now Edwards doesn’t have an opponent to fight. We have seen a number of fellow welterweight contenders such as Khamzat Chimaev, Belal Muhammad, and Gilbert Burns throw their names into the hat to get the fight with Edwards, but so far, the UFC has not booked him against a new opponent. It’s potentially because a new name has entered the mix, as the elder Diaz wants to fight Edwards next.

UFC 268 rankings update: Marlon Vera and Nassourdine Imavov make big leap up rankings

Adam D Martin - November 11, 2021

The UFC’s official rankings have been updated following this past Saturday’s UFC 268 card, and Marlon Vera was one of the biggest winners. Vera was one of the stars of the night as he knocked out Frankie Edgar in the third round of their main card bantamweight bout for the biggest win of his MMA career. Not only did Vera get the biggest win of his career and score a $50,000 bonus for “Performance of the Night,” but he also saw himself make a big leap in the UFC rankings. Following his win over Edgar, Vera moved from No. 13 at bantamweight up to No. 11. That might not seem like a huge move, but when you look at how deep and stacked the UFC bantamweight division is, the fact Vera is this close to the top-10 now is actually extremely impressive. As for Edgar, he dropped down all the way to No. 12 in the division with the defeat.

Ahead of their grudge match, the press conference took place on Wednesday, and things got heated between the two rivals. At one point during the press conference, Hunt interrupted Lombard while he was answering questions from reporters, and then a shouting match ensued between the two rivals. That led to Hunt storming up to the table that Lombard was sitting at, flipping it over, and stealing his BKFC championship belt. You can then see Hunt taking the belt and slamming it on the ground before security moved him away.
