Bob Arum has all the confidence in the world that Tyson Fury vs. Francis Ngannou would be a massive fight. After Fury knocked out Dillian Whyte he brought Francis Ngannou into the ring as both men have shown interest in making a fight happen. There’s no question it would be a spectacle and for Arum – who is the promoter of Fury – he thinks it would be bigger than Floyd Mayweather vs. Conor McGregor.

Rob Font figured he would be fighting Cory Sandhagen. After Font lost to Jose Aldo and Sandhagen lost to Petr Yan, he thought the fight made sense and it was one that interested him. However, Font was offered to headline UFC Vegas 53 against Marlon Vera which did surprise him. Yet, he is eager for the challenge and is excited to headline another card.

The UFC heavyweight champion’s contract with the company expires later this year. ‘The Predator’ was last seen in action at UFC 270 in January. His victory over Ciryl Gane was a huge one, as it allowed him to leave the promotion with UFC gold if he chooses.
Jon Jones vs. Stipe Miocic target date pushed back to September

The UFC heavyweight showdown between Jon Jones and Stipe Miocic has been pushed back once again. In August 2020, ‘Bones’ announced he was vacating his light-heavyweight title to move up. While he was expected to fight Francis Ngannou for the UFC heavyweight championship, his debut has been pushed back repeatedly for various reasons.

Fabricio Werdum is not done with mixed martial arts after all and is eyeing a PFL super fight this summer. The former UFC heavyweight champion withdrew from the PFL 2022 season earlier this year and claimed he was retired from cage fighting, but not boxing. The Brazilian (24-9 MMA) had suffered a brain injury which had him opt out of the Professional Fighters League.

Conor McGregor appears to be inching closer to a return to the UFC. McGregor has not fought since he broke his leg in the trilogy match against Dustin Poirier at UFC 264 last July. Since the injury, he had surgery but has recently been back in the gym as he looks to be nearly fully recovered. With that, he posted to Instagram that the countdown is on for his next fight.

In the main event of UFC Vegas 52, a strawweight bout headlined the card as Jessica Andrade dropped back down to the division to face Amanda Lemos. Andrade entered the fight coming off a first-round TKO over Cynthia Calvillo to return to the win column after losing by TKO to Valentina Shevchenko in a fight for the 125lbs belt. She went 2-1 at flyweight but opted to return to the division where she was previously champion.

Ben Rothwell has opened up on his departure from the UFC. Rothwell was scheduled to face Alexander Gustafsson on May 21 but was surprisingly released by the promotion just weeks before the fight. Originally there was no word on why he was let go, but now ‘Big Ben’ has revealed that he was the one who asked for the release.
