Leon Edwards not pressing charges against Jorge Masvidal after post-fight scrap

Shortly after the UFC London card wrapped up, co-main event winner Leon Edwards interrupted a Jorge Masvidal interview with a bit of trash talk. Masvidal evidently didn’t appreciate what he was hearing, and approached Edwards, challenging the Brit to say it to his face. Seconds later, the punches were flying, as Masvidal uncorked a blistering, bare knuckle combination on his rival (see it here).

The future looks as uncertain as ever for former UFC lightweight and featherweight champion Conor McGregor. Although he has recently been linked to a fight with Donald “Cowboy” Cerrone, it now sounds like this fight is off the table, rendering his next outing a complete mystery. Yet during a weekend visit to Chicago, Conor McGregor dropped the news that he is currently in negotiations for his next fight. He didn’t specify the opponent for this next outing, but confirmed that it’s being targeted for July — most likely for the UFC’s famous International Fight Week, which usually includes the biggest fight card of the year.

Undefeated UFC welterweight Ben Askren jumped on a plane to London with plans of arranging a future fight with event headliner Darren Till. The rivals did have a slight encounter the day of UFC London weigh-ins, but it appears that an actual fight inside of the octagon will have to wait.

Round one begins and Diakiese leaps in with an overhand right and then a low kick. Duffy returns fire with a body kick. Diakiese shrugs it off and throws a high kick. Duffy circles and the lunges in with a right hand. Diakiese replies with a front kick. Duffy ducks under a punch and scores a double leg takedown. Marc scrambles to get his back up against the cage. He eventually uses the position to get back to his feet. The fighters clinch briefly and then Diakiese breaks free. Duffy with a low kick now. Diakiese leaps in with a combination but Joseph counters nicely with a hook. Duffy with pressure now. Diakiese circles along the fence. Marc with a heavy low kick that sends Duffy to the canvas. The Irishman pops right back up to his feet but his leg is busted up. Diakiese attempts a wheel kick that misses. He switches stances and then steps in with a combination. A hard left elbow floors Duffy. Diakiese does not pounce but instead waves Duffy to return to his feet. Joseph gets up and snaps off a nice combination. He throws a back elbow. The horn sounds to end round one.

There, Emmett was looking to build off the win and become a title contender. His next fight was in the main event when he took on Jeremy Stephens. Emmett had some success in the fight until Stephens landed a nice combination of punches and elbows which knocked Emmett out. To make matters worse, Emmett dealt with a bevy of injuries which has kept him out of the Octagon for over a year.
