Tom Taylor - September 16, 2018

Mairbek Taisumov is one of the fastest rising contenders in the crowded UFC lightweight division. He took another huge step up the proverbial ladder this weekend, when he defeated Desmond Green at UFC Moscow. Unfortunately, Mairbek Taisumov’s career has somewhat hindered by the difficulty he’s had obtaining a US visa. In his eyes, he might have a difficult time becoming a UFC champion if he can’t obtain a visa. As such, he’s considering retiring if he’s unable to get one.

Mairbek Taisumov shares his thoughts on "bum" Donald "Cowboy" Cerrone

Tom Taylor - December 26, 2017

Russian lightweight contender Mairbek Taisumov is having a hard time finding an opponent. Of course, that’s not really a surprise, given that he’s knocked his last five opponents out cold. Though Taisumov is having a hard time finding a willing dance partner, that’s not for lack of trying. Over the last few weeks, the surging knockout artist has been campaigning for a fight with Donald “Cowboy” Cerrone, who has teased a return to the lightweight division after an exciting stint at welterweight.

Donald Cerrone's Next Fight Could be Against One of Lightweight's Best Prospects

Drake Riggs - December 6, 2017

The last time we saw Donald “Cowboy” Cerrone he was on the receiving end of a rising star’s best performance. The 34-year-old, Cowboy now looks to slow things down a bit in regards to his fight frequency and plans for a return to his old home of the Lightweight division. But awaiting him may be a very hungry challenger by the name of Mairbek Taisumov, as there have been several reports surrounding the fight as well as claims from Taisumov himself. UPDATE (pertaining to the rumors of Cerrone vs. Taisumov): I'm told that the bout at UFC 221 in Perth HAS been offered to the two fighters by the UFC. Taisumov's camp says he has signed the agreement and they are just waiting on Cowboy. #UFC

Mairbek Taisumov is "tired of waiting" for Anthony Pettis to sign his contract

Tom Taylor - January 31, 2017

Chechen-Austrian talent Mairbek Taisumov is one of the hottest prospects in UFC lightweight division. For the reasoning behind this claim, look no further than his four most recent fights in the Octagon. First, he put away Marcin Bandel with punches just 1:01 into the first round of an October 2014 bout. Then, he knocked Anthony Christodoulou out cold just 38 seconds into the second round of a January 2015 fight. Next, in June of 2015, he thumped Alan Patrick to a second round TKO. Finally and most recently he returned from a long layoff to TKO Damir Hadžović in the first round. Now 4-0 in his last four, with finishes in all of those fights, the rising lightweight is undeniably ready for a big step up – and it sounds like he’s about to get one.
