Carlos Condit Still Wants To Fight BJ Penn

“Nah, this title shot has been what I’ve wanted since I started fighting and I would still like to fight BJ. He’s a legend in the sport. I’ve looked up to him for a very long time and that would be a win that I would want on my record. For now, I’ve got to capitalize on this moment and go hard and see if I could get this belt.”
Carlos Condit tells MMANation.com that even though his focus is on his title fight with Georges St. Pierre, he still wants a fight with BJ Penn at some point. Up until a few days ago, Condit was scheduled to face Penn in the co-main event at UFC 137, but was bumped up to the main event spot when the UFC decided to pull Nick Diaz from the card. BJ is now set to face Diaz on the same card, but depending on how the dust settles this fall, a showdown with “The Prodigy” could definitely be in Condit’s future.

Well beat gsp and you will get your chance
Haha, well “the Prodigy” can still be on the horizon! Lets just see if you two cross paths once again!! LOL
You are good Carlos, but you against BJ’s “A” game will result in you getting knocked into tomorrow..u dont want that.
Condit Will soon be the world champ, the best pound for pound fighter of all Time …..
You ignorant……..
you really think Carlos Condit will be the best p4p fighter ever. Wow, what was that one guys name who was really, really good, oh yeah. Anderson Silva. Get off the rocks kid.
So, we fight these two fights, and switch back for the next round. I think all 4 fights are fights the fans want to see. I don’t need to see BJ vs GSP again. I do want to see Diaz/Condit, Diaz/GSP and Diaz/Penn, as well as Condit/Penn and Condit/GSP.
I don’t want to see Diaz fight at all. He should fade into obscurity. All the other fights you mentioned sound good including BJ vs GSP again. Would BJ want that fight though?
Heck yeah BJ wants that fight again. He just wants his fair fight without greasegate allegations. Even if he lost the third fight he’d try and get a fourth just to prove it to himself.
I love how everyone wants to fight BJ, says alot about him. For the record I would have rather seen BJ v Nate.
Condit is cruising for a bruising lol
lol, not really he means it as a sign of respect as in BJ Penn is a legend and to become a legend you have to beat a legend kinda thing…so Nick Diaz vs BJ Penn huh?
I just heard from a very reliable source that Diaz vs BJ is not happening…
well ya heard wrong retard
He’s actually right. Penn v Fitch was announced on ufc’s website last night. Kinda hard to have a more reliable source than the company itself.
you’re an idiot. ufc website never announced last night or today that bj will fight fitch instead of diaz.
Nevermind, didn’t here the news today. My bad.
Don’t always listen to wikipedia
carlos is a good fighter and bj would love to fight him as well
Carlos Condit is a C grade fighter. It’s only hype now that’s bringing him up.
Condit will beat B.J. Maynard would also beat B.J. Unfortunately for him, B.J’s poor cardio has been exposed and more and more fighters will be able to capitalize on that. It’s too bad because it is his only weakness, but it is a huge one! That’s why he was so depressed after the Fitch fight. He knows it’s his achilles heel.
Condit is the real deal. Just watch his fights against Ellenberger and MacDonald. He can beat everyone in the welterweight division , except possibly G.S.P. But, he has a good shot!
Ellenberger got straight up robbed
Interesting. So, tell me how you scored the rounds, and I will tell you how I did.
I think Ellenberger will beat Shields.
no doubt! i have to agree. i wanted condit to win but jake was robbed without a gun in front of the world and had to eat it. but that robbery turned jake into a better fighter. yeah ellenberger was robbed big time.
You dont need cardio if u can knock a guy out in the first 2 rds. C’mon man Gray? Really? Hes just a bad of a dry hump artist as Greassy
In Penn’s last 8 fights, he has finished one fight in 2 rounds or less: He knocked out a 37 year old Matt Hughes. I like B.J’s skills, but he gave up a win for a draw with that fight to Fitch because of poor cardio. Midway through the second he gased which is why the fight ended up a draw. It’s too bad because he had been executing a great game plan until that point.
is it hard to talk with condits balls in your mouth? Seriously condit was rocked a few times by Rory and bj has the same aount of speed with alot more power and alot better timing. Condit couldnt get bj to the ground if he wanted and wouldnt be able to do anything if he did. So tell me how exactly does Condit beat Penn?
B.J can’t close the distance on people quickly because he stands flat-footed (except another flat-footed guy like Hughes). Condit has amazing footwork, he is always moving. He has a 6 inch reach advantage on B.J. and varies his stand-up with hard high and low-kicks along with devastating power in his punches. B.J. would hardly even get close to him. Carlos by KO or TKO after he drops him to the mat.
BJ can definitely cover distance. Once he’s coming for you, you’re definitely gunna get knocked out. Ask his previous victims.
Do not get confused with running away, and having great foot work.
Let us see….better cardio? close the distance? Diego-better cardio but it did not matter, the distance was closed with a kick. Ken-blo-better cardio, closed the distance with a choke. Hughs-better cardio, got the distance closed with a right. Sorry but my hand is tired of typing for dumb people like you.
troy looks like your ***** hands needs better cardio if they are being overly fatigued.
He didn’t lose to Fitch. He won that fight and the UFC brass agree.
It would be awesome to see the two that were supposed to fight for the title lose. Then we would end up getting the fight we were supposed to see the first time around. BJ vs Condit this time for the WelterWeight Championship of the World.
would like to see BJ knock out Condit, for Charuto
Condit, you better hush when grown folk are talking…..you fight BJ? You aren’t ready to sit at the grown folk table yet, get back in the jumping house. LOL PENN NATION!!!!!!!!!
im guessing diaz v penn is a #1 contender match so if condit wins and bj wins they willl surly face off unless gsp gets a rematch ( i dont think he will). the loser of diaz penn will be punished with a match vs jon fitch
BJ is hands down my favorite fighter of all time. But I don’t let that blind me like so many of you seem to. Condit is the real deal and has been for years. Those that claim hype have to because UFC hype is all they subject themselves too.
C grade fighter ? You fkn kiddin bro ?
Condit aint ready to sit at the grown folks table ? Lol Mr. Mike Diaz, I see you sneaking out the back door before you uttered those words to him.
That said. bj Bj BJ BJ BJ BJ!!!!!!
Closing the distance is related to footwork, handspeed, and explosiveness. Sanchez, Florian, and Hughes are all flat-footed, stand right in front of you guys as well. You haven’t proved anything. The reason B.J. lost to Edgar twice? Superior footwork.
great footwork reminiscent of running, shuffling, and dancing with the stars.
Anyways, B.J. is a legend and has some amazing skills, so I don’t want to only point out the negative. I just think Carlos would beat him. But, we will all have a better idea of the reality of our differing viewpoints after October 29th. I can hardly wait. Also, if Ellenberger beats Shields, that will be 5 in a row for him, which should move him in, or very close to the top 10 ww’s.
BJ lost to Edgar once. Lets refrain from counting poor judging as a victory shall we ?
