Brock Lesnar Returns Dec. 30 Against Alistair Overeem

A two-for-one major announcement was just made by UFC officials moments ago.
First of which is that former UFC heavyweight champion, Brock Lesnar, is healed up from his most recent bout with diverticulitis and ready to return to action.
The second announcement is that the UFC has apparently secured former Strikeforce and DREAM heavyweight champion, Alistair Overeem.
The two have agreed to face off in a five-round main event on Friday Dec. 30 at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada.
“Brock is a big name, a dangerous guy, and this is a dream matchup,” Overeem told The Times on Tuesday, just after signing a standard UFC fight contract in the office of Chairman Lorenzo Fertitta. “Brock’s a big guy, an exciting wrestler with his takedowns.
“I want to see this fight myself. Overall, I’m a different fighter. A striker, athletic, big. These are going to be two big trucks going at it on a collision course.”
Lesnar hasn’t seen the inside of a cage since his October, 2010 loss to current heavyweight champion Cain Velasquez. He was scheduled to return earlier this year in the post-Ultimate Fighter coaches square off against Junior Dos Santos, however a relapse of diverticulitis had sidelined the NCAA Division 1 National Champion and forced the withdrawal.
“This is the fight the fans want,” UFC President Dana White said to the LA Times. “Both of these guys are monsters. Can Lesnar take Overeem down?”
Overeem hasn’t lost a professional MMA bout in 4-years. The oversized K-1 Grand Prix champion was last seen in a unanimous decision victory over Fabricio Werdum in his last appearance for the Strikeforce promotion. After being cut from the roster due to failed contract negotiations, he has apparently come to terms with the ZUFFA brass and will make his new home the UFC where he can make or break his case as the best heavyweight fighter on the planet.

BATTLE OF THE ROIDS!!!!!!!
lol! ultimate fake championships
They will both gas in 20 seconds!
Brock has never gassed.. he looked gassed against Cain but that was from a uppercut..lol
War Brock!
War brock? Bro, Brock is hardly even a fighter we all saw what happened when he got by cain he got sent rolling around the cage looking like a fool. Now imagine what is going too happen when he gets hit by someone who is actually a striker!
Reem by first round MURDER!!!
WAR REEM!
I agree with you man! Lesnar panics when he’s hit! Now, against a best striker, lets see! REEM baby!
i think lesnar might surprise you guys
Dude. Brock Lesnar wont get a chance to gas.
Overeem has all the physical advantages that Brock has over his opponents, and a level of skill Brock wont be able to match.
Ok now i feel bad for Brock.
overeem will knock brock’s head off. this will be awesome!
Brock will win. GnP TKO. and i hate brock
Damn , Brocks first day back to work and they throw him to the Liona , smh
And who do you think should Brock fight next? Mir? Oh com’on man, Brock will just lay and pray on him till he get the UD win. This will be a good match up!
Great matchup, and these two are opposites standup v wrestler. Whoever imposes their will and dictates the pace wins..Overeem FTW!
Everyone knows Brock can’t take a punch. All Overeem has to do for the next 4 months is work on his takedown defense
Really he seemed to take. Carwins puches just fine. I’m sure carwin and cain are on the same punching level maybe give it to carwin just a smidge. One good hard uppercut would put anyone down.
Carwin and reem on the same level in striking? Kid you must be out of your mind too even say that reem would make carwin look like a joke in a stand up fight. You should feel dumb for saying that. All carwin has is big power besides that he is older and slower than most. Power alone doesn’t win fights.
power is speed and strength combined. you make no sense. you cant have “BIG POWER” and be slow. Power alone can win fights.
your a retard
“Power alone can win fights”
Stupid words..
Real talk, Im glad you guys agree that james here is a moron!
If brock does win I don’t think he should get a title shot.., he just lost his last fight to the champ.. Make him fight aleast one more top contender..
Brock will pound Overeem into the mat. The dutch kickboxers are not known for takedown defense. And overeem hasn’t ever fought a wrestler as good or as big as Brock. It’s going to ne a repeat of when Brock retired Heath Herring
I don’t see Overeem stopping Brocks TD
Agree…. its just Brock doesnt like to get hit.. if he can take some punishment and get the TD i see him winning by Ground and Pound
true
Love this matchup!!
Brock is gonna get SMASHED by Overeem. If you though Cain killed him, Overeem is gonna turn his lights off!!!
Over ated
Brock via whateverhewants
hahaha Overeem has the experience and striking advantage!
i think it’s funny it was scheduled as a five round fight….this fight isn’t getting out of the first round regardless of who wins….don’t really care for either of them, but it should be fun to watch
OMG Becky, I can’t believe they’re making it happen. If Overeem stops the first takedown Brock might be in trouble. Time to see if Overeem is over-rated.
i cant wait for this one! This is gonna be a bad azz fight! but i think Brock will win by G-N-P
WAR BROCK!
F U junkie
hahaha i know u love me t baggy! hopefully brock can take down overeem cuz if he cant he may have to stick to what hes been doing for a year now, tending to his broken butthole.
no one loves u not even ur own mother..
all the mothers love me especially yours
Wow this is better then Godzilla versus Megalon, cant wait..
MFbrian88 is retarded…When have you ever seen brock gas…not once..brock by k.o. via gnp
Im a big Brock fanand i want him to win but if he doesn’t get the takedown it will be worst then when he fought Cain. But either way i don’t see either of them beating Junior win he gets the belt.
Epic its gonna look like a ****ing movie with them two in the cage brocks back yeah
its gunna end up just like lesnar vs carwin
I think its a really ****ed up they’re sending in Lesnar with Overeem after a super lay off. I know a lot of people will say this has the makings of Lesnar vs. Carwin but Lesnar barely survived that fight through sheer luck. The only way Brock really has a chance is if he turns into Overeem’s punching bag for a round or two.
Lesnar will try a takedown and Overeem will knee him in the face during that take down. Lights out for Lesnar after that.
With no warmup fight, I see Brock catching a beat down.
With a warmup fight, I see Brock catching a beat down!
CLASH!!!!!!!! PENN NATION!!!!!!!
Brock will have had 2 training camps when he fights overeem….both camps will have been focused on brock either working on standup or working on how not to get hit. Who knows maybe Bj works with Brock on perfecting that flying knee he tried against cain haha! I’m not doubting Reems ground game but thats all he really has is his stand up….if brock can take this fight to the ground and keep it there he wins via gnp or submission or maybe even grinding out a UD…..if brock tries to stand with reem he will I think get out classed and lose a UD. I’m going with lesnar though. I think he has more ways to win.
good for you kyle brock showed he can come back and win, like how he did vs carwin. but as far as the more well rounded fighter it definitely goes to reem. should be interesting to watch to say the least.
