Brian Bowles Fails UFC 160 Drug Test with 20-to-1 T/E Ratio

By JAKE CHASTAIN

| Brian Bowles was defeated by knock-out two weeks ago by George Roop at UFC 160. Following that loss, which was his second in a row, Bowles apparently failed his post-fight drug test horribly.

According to an email sent to MMAmania.com from Keith Kizer, who is the Executive Director of the NSAC, Bowles failed the drug test for an over 20-to-1 testosterone-to-epitestosterone ratio. The NSAC has an official limit of 6-to-1 T/E levels and Bowles was immediately flagged for failing that test with his levels far exceeding that limit. Kizer also noted that all 24 fighters on that card were tested and Bowles was the only one that came back with a dirty result.

MMAMania.com also reported that Kizer noted in his email that, “a complaint is forthcoming,” which means Bowles have a chance to appeal the test results or he will be served a punishment by the commission, which usually comes in the form of a fine and/or suspension.

Bowles (10-3) was the former WEC Champion but has since faced a very rough patch in his career as he’s lost two straight fights to Roop and Urijah Faber, he hasn’t not won a fight since July of 2011, and he has been plagued with injuries since making his way into the UFC that year (2011). The failed drug test just comes as a compounded extension of his recent misfortunes and we’ll have to wait to see how the NSAC deals with this situation to determine where Bowles goes from here.

20:1 ratio??? Thats some massive dosing of PEDs.. or one seriously screwed up drug test.. Maybe the sample got “tainted”.. lolz!

  2. 757 says:

So much for dogging Vitor and Hendo…..TRT is not why those guys won. It’s technique …period. People need to shut the hell up about TRT. Bowels got knocked out so TRT didn’t do anything for him.

    • Sean says:

Yup, improved technique is one unfair advantage that TRT gives you…by allowing you to train more hours and still recover just fine!

      • eli says:

trt doesn’t give you that “advantage” steroids do. If your levels are brought back up to normal then you are in the same boat as everyone else. Yes I’m sure there are some people who abuse it, but until its proven that they abuse it (hendo has not shown signs of this) then theres no reason to go off on someone.

  3. KIDD433 says:

Vitor and Hendo are OGs,their bodies need TRT from beating the shit out of their bodies all of these years.Brian Bowles doesn’t have any excuses.

  4. 757 says:

KIDD433 IS ON THE MONEY HERE.GOOD CALL. HENDO AND VITOR KNOCKED OUT PEOPLE LIKE BITCHPING AND ROCKHOLD(WHO EVEN SAID IT) BECAUSE OF THEIR FIGHTING NOT TRT…..BITCHPING SAID BEFORE THE FIGHT WITH VITOR THAT HE DIDN’T CARE IF HE WAS ON ROCKET FUEL, UNTIL HE GOT A SHIN ACROSS HIS FACE HA HA. TO MANY GUYS TALKING SHIT BEFORE THE FIGHT AND AFTER THEY GET BEAT THEY WANT TO CALL TRT.

  5. Slim Charles says:

Lmaooooo this ratio is even more stupid than Alistairs hahah

  6. GRT 3000 says:

20:1 ! wow, he even surpassed the previous champ (Sonnen) at 17:1. Now Bowles (cut) career should really take off. Based on past UFC behavior he should get a suspension followed by a string of unwarranted title shots and main events. good on yah Bowles (cut).

  7. 757 says:

It’s in every sport…grow up. If you don’t want to be a part of it then get out. I don’t see Bitchping or anyone else volunteering to quit or boycott. Some guys use it and don’t follow the rules and allot (Not just the ones you know of) use it and do it within the guidelines. It’s currently part of the sport. If your a fighter and it bothers you then quit . If you are fan stop watching. Otherwise drop it for God’s sake.

  8. K2 says:

Bowles vs Sonnen for the Undisputed Roid Championship… at a catch ratio of 18:1
