Brenneman Gets One More Shot In The UFC

UFC lightweight Charlie Brenneman is going to get another shot inside the Octagon. The Pennsylvania native has gone a meek 0-2 inside the Octagon since returning in January of this year. Brenneman had gone 4-2 inside the Octagon starting back in 2010 before dropping back to back losses to Erick Silva and Kyle Noke in 2012. The UFC released “The Spaniard” causing him to drop from welterweight down to lightweight and revamp his career. After being released from the UFC, Brenneman went 4-0 under other promotional banners, and even ended up winning the CFFC lightweight championship. Then in January of this year Brenneman got the call from the UFC once again and fought Beneil Dariush, who stopped Brenneman with a rear naked choke in the first round. The UFC then gave Brenneman Danny Castillo back in April at UFC 172, who knocked Brenneman out in the second round.

Charlie’s manager Mike Constantino spoke to MMAJunkie.com about Brenneman receiving another shot inside the Octagon saying:

“Charlie’s going to get another chance,” Constantino told MMAjunkie. “Charlie will be back and will get another chance. We’re looking at the fall for him.”

Another loss would bring Brenneman’s record to a grim 4-7 inside the Octagon, meaning he would have gone 1-6 in his last seven UFC appearances, which would almost surely bring an end to his UFC career.
