Braulio Estima fires back at Cesar Gracie | MMA NEWS

By Evan Stoumbelis
Braulio Estima, the man Nick Diaz was supposed to fight (key words supposed to) in a BJJ superfight this past weekend, fired back at Cesar Gracie today via Twitter.

Since Nick skipped the fight, nobody has heard from him, and it appears that he is hiding from the public eye, leaving coach Cesar Gracie to defend him and salvage what he can of Nick’s reputation.

The following is a statement posted to Twitter by Estima, due to Twitter’s character limit Estima shortened words, I revised it in order to make it more readable, but didn’t change anything else.

@CesarGracieBJJ Hi César I was reading your statement. Very interesting points.. 1st- When junior approached me to offer me the fight I was actually training at the blackzilians at the time so obviously I was training MMA. Junior told me about Nick not wanting to fight an MMA fighter. I never fought before so he said it was fine, and why didn’t you cancel the fight before if this was really an issue..?? 2nd- nobody has ever bended any rules for me. Because there was no rules set to start off with, it wasn’t going to be a UFC match, but a superfight at a BJJ Expo so the whole point here was for us to show a fight..has Nick signed a contract that stated the date time and weight that we both need to reach? I didn’t. And since this whole thing was going to be a friendly event I really don’t see any issue here even if Nick turned up 10lbs overweight. Still, when I was asked to, I went and dropped the weight to meet the requirement. Actually to put things straight it was myself that called Junior around 10pm Friday to check if there is going to be a weigh in at all. He kept contacting you and got back to me saying I need to be 180 that time, of course I said I can’t for the simple reason I was away in Irvine and it was already late at night but I said sure no problem I’ll make it first thing in the morning if needed, even if it would put me in a bigger disadvantage, I didn’t care, I just came to fight. Junior had actually called me back no later than midnight, saying that he spoke to you and confirmed the weigh in for 10am. Besides when did Nick actually weigh in? And who witnessed that if we are being so strict and proffessional? 3rd – you are saying Nick had left by 10am Saturday morning? Why did you never said anything then? I even told you I’d like to see him and his weight and you said he’s not gonna come down because he ate already and wouldn’t make the weight anymore. And Lana after speaking to you called his room and said he was actually there sleeping. Nobody at any point had mentioned he could have left. Leaving me believing we would fight till the very last minute, now youre talking about lack of profesionalism in the organization of the superfight and this was very professional behaviour right? There is many more points here that I don’t agree with but I am just fed up of this whole situation and don’t agree for anyone to ever release the blame from Nick for whatever reason, we were there to fight and that’s what should happen no excuses, we are both professional athletes and should respect one another no matter what. And this is inexcusable.

Yawn! This dude is hot cuz his attempt at gaining stardom didn’t succeed. In the end the bjj community will back him and MMA community will back nick. So get some wins and hopefully Dana and them are willing to sign a 30yr old that just turned pro.

  2. Mwill says:

Nick AND Caesar are punk ass bitches! They need to take Caesar’s last name away from him because he is taking a great family name and turning it into a soap opera!

  3. jayPanda says:

Theirs always two sides to a story and idk who to believe. Seems like shady weird shit is always going on with Mr. Diaz.

  4. baldy says:

it always something with nick…flakey motherfucker.

  5. Leo From New Jersey says:

Get rid of Fitch (forever) ,,,,your comment what extremely childish. And point being is Diaz did not show up! End of story

    • Hightower says:

He has nick diaz dick too far down his throat to be able to reason at all.

    • MMFT says:

while i agree “get rid of fitch” is an idiot”, i’ll still argue that diaz is a beast. easily a top welterweight contender. and the ufc needs somebody like him at this point. the ww class is so stagnant. nothing happends any more other than injuries. and we all know that condit will not beat gsp. he’s a gatekeeper at best. diaz will bring a fight to anybody, and bring loads of hype behind it. so, regardless of his antics, his performances show he is a top contender, whatever the competition may be, and he is a valuable asset to wherever he chooses to go.

      • T.Daddy says:

He is a beast.. but he is makin himself look like a a-hole time after time… I still think gsp or kos or mcdonald even diego wud smash nick

  6. Bd says:

Like I said .. His attempt to gain stardom was discovered and that discovery pissed him the fuck off … It only hurst that bad because it was true…. He saw right through him and he’s still trying to play it off … If he wants to talk about being a professional explain the “professionalism” of the event and who ever coordinated it??? Also no weigh ins??? Nicks a pro and a pro engages in events that are professional .. Not a circus show .. I would of left too if I was nick .. That event wouldve been cool back when he was 20 lmao Braulio and everyone else jumping on the wagon talking shit .. Get a clue

  7. maurice says:

wat is everyone continuing to talk about dude trying to build a name for mma? beating nick diaz in a bjj match wont do shit for his mma aspirations. he doesnt need a bjj win over any mma fighter. dude bjj skills alone will build his mma career. im pissed at diaz, because i thought he would do outstanding in a legit bjj match. oh well, we’ll never know now. fucking diaz.

  8. Barbadoes Slim says:

So all that I’m getting from all these stories is 1. Nick flaked 2. Braulio is a turd 3. Cesar is always cleaning up Nicks PR messes. 4. the BJJ Expo is comparable to a traveling fair that can be set up in like 2 hours.

in the end I think these guys should fight in a glass octagon as it is slowly decending into the sea. Win is released and the loser drowns. Everyone goes home happy.

  9. Pancho says:

His irrelevant faggot is just mad cause he couldn’t get some stardom off Diaz. Just get in the cage with him so he can whip your ass and leave you in the low ranks where you belong

  10. mike says:

True or not, what does Braulio wanting to become an MMA fighter have anything to do with this??? Cesar Gracie is a lying two-faced snake. Nick backed out on a commitment – end of story.

    • Billy Jean is my Lover says:

True Cesar is a disgrace to the last name Gracie the only Gracie I would listen to is Renzo and Royce. As his trainer/coach/master he doesn’t do a very good job mentoring and controling his fighter. I don’t see Greg Jackson having to something like this for his fighters

  11. maurice says:

@MIKE thank you man! sum1 not living in diaz fantasy world. a bjj specialist trying to gain mma recognition, by beating a mma fighter in a bjj tournament? u guys need to pull ur heads out ya ass. “diaz was going to go to the bjj expo, but then he got high.”

  12. Dick Diaz says:

    Cesar Gracie is very annoying.

  13. haters gonna hate says:

Yeah….. this dude is pretty pissed his plan to use nick diaz as a stepping stone into an MMA failed so miserably…. Braulio is a douche

    • Jujitsu Player says:

      You’re a fucking douche bag.

Once again Cesar is trying to put a positive spin on Nick Diaz pissing all over his fans. Whatever way you cut it Nick bitched out of this. Who give a fuck whether Braulio has aspirations of being an MMA fighter. The guy is 30+ years old, it’s too late, he’s a BJJ specialist so I doubt it would work out. Why did Diaz pick him? He’s a world class BJJ guy so Nick was trying to raise his profile/reputation in that community. Anyone with any knowledge of BJJ knows that Braulio would have submitted him and dominated the fight. If this was an MMA fight the opposite would happen. Nick would light him up. I’m just pissed this thing never went ahead and it is clearly Nick’s fault.

  14. Xaninho says:

In this case I think Diaz is right. First thing this dude Estima did was calling him out for an MMA match. He did attempt to get a foot in the MMA door by using a famous (infamous?) name as Nick Diaz.

About making the weight, I think it should be fightday weigh ins anyway. Who cares what a fighter weighs the day before? They should be on weight on fightday. The whole purpose of having weightclasses has gone nowadays with all the massive weightcutting. Sometimes the difference between two fighters on fightday is as big as two weightclasses, it’s getting ridiculous!

  15. maurice says:

hey xaninho, shut the fuck up man!

    • Xaninho says:

I don’t think so dude….I have an opinion and I will spread the word, just like your momma does with her legs for total strangers she picked up in a bar.
