Brandon Vera Explains His Reasons And Disappointment For Pulling Out Of Silva Fight

“Hey everybody, it’s Brandon “The Truth” Vera here. I wanted to clear up some stuff, and apologize. I’ve been bugging my manager, I’ve been bugging Joe Silva and the UFC, so as soon as Thiago Silva’s suspension was over and he was available, I would like to be the first one to fight him and get back in there with him. Kind of a welcome back thing. Finally the fight came, Joe said the fight can happen May 15th. My manager told me the fight is happening May 15th…and without thinking, without talking to my coaches, without talking to my doctors, I verbally said ‘Yes, I’m down for the fight, let’s do this, let’s get it done. I’m in.’ Super excited, hung up the phone, promptly went on a run, and got super excited.
The next morning I went to my doctors after training and told my doctors that I was planning on fighting May 15th, and…everybody looked at me like I was crazy. They said there’s no way I’ll be ready by then, and I need to focus on getting better. So I sat down and was thinking ‘Yeah, maybe those guys are right.’ So I didn’t check with my doctors, I didn’t check with my coaches. I apologize to both you guys. I apologize to Joe Silva and my manager Matt Stansell. I apologize to my fans. I still wanna fight you bad Thiago, Thiago, however you say your name juice monkey. I still wanna fight you bad. So whenever you’re ready, whenever I’m healthy enough, I’m your huckleberry.”
In a video posting on his personal Facebook profile, Brandon Vera offers up the above statement to explain why he was forced to pull out of his UFC on FX 2 rematch with Thiago Silva.

That was a bad ass whooping Thiago put on him the 1st time. I wish Vera a speedy recovery although he didn’t even say what was wrong with him…
His stupid nickname for one
Sounds like fear of another loss.
Why is he speaking like Thiago ducked him :L I mean Thiago was ready to fight
Doesnt really sound like he said that it just sounded like he didnt want people to be scared so it sounded more like a wait for me thing and with the lhw division tied up he will have to anyways unless a rematch with machida happens or phil davis
FUCCING. *****
Is he actually using his nickname when referring to himself? How lame can you get?
Thiago Silva is a juicer apparently, but I’m not at all convinced he wouldn’t have beaten Brandon Vera without it. Brandon Vera isn’t that good. His stand-up is his best feature, but if you check out a few half decent muay thai gyms here in the Netherlands you will easily find dozens of guys with better stand-up than Vera..
He ‘s just trying trying to prolong his career.Because he knows that Thiago will whoop his ass with or without juice. This fight needs to happen so that Brandon”the failure” Vera can get cut again it’s going to happen. One of the most overrated guys in ufc history.
I agreed to fight silva then I watched our first fight and my nose started hurting really bad
I love how he said all this stuff about going to see doctors and his coaches all saying he wont be ready in time as if he’s injured. He never once said he was injured or what it was, I’m guessing he’s just fat and out of shape.
Just another filipino that talks too much. I dislike the douche bag filipinos
Ay F@*K You Ryan. Why you talking bad on filipinos! F@*Kin racist!
I’m pretty sure he broke his arm against Eliot Marshall.
lol juice monkey =P
Well im glad the Thiago fight didnt happened, Thiago wouldve beaten him worse and break his nose again.
Straight up *****. Umm oh wait maybe I’m not ready??? Wth get off your lazy ass and go train that’s pretty much your life right…. Slacking much??
