Brandao Admits To Threatening Poirier With Stabbing

Following December’s epic UFC 168 event we learned that featherweight fighter, Diego Brandao, may have crossed the line with his opponent, Dustin Poirier.

After their bout Poirier told us that the Greg Jackson trained fighter threatened to stab him at the weigh-ins.

After getting demolished in their bout, Brandao went silent, that is until today, when an interview with MMAFighting.com was released.

In it, he discussed these threats and admitted he has some personal work to do.

Check it:

“He was there, bouncing at the weigh-ins, staring at me. I told him backstage ‘if you ever do that again, I’ll stab you with a pen.’ That’s what happened. Every time he saw me at the hotel he kept staring at me, and I responded asked what was the problem, if he looking like that because he was hungry or what. When he got inside the cage I saw he was scared. He got lucky (to win).”

“I have a lot of things to change, including the way I speak, my personality,. People think I’m an ignorant man, but I’m a funny guy. But when I get inside that cage, I’m fighting for my family and my career. It’s hard to explain. I’m still learning, and I will be at the Top 10 one day. I have nothing bad to say to Poirier. He did a good job, and that fight is in the past. I’m learning with the losses, and I only lost to tough opponents. I will rematch those guys one day and I’ll be the UFC champion.”

Scared?? I guess you figured out he’s not…

Does this warrant some sanctions from the UFC? didn’t Miguel torres basically end his career by making some bad jokes? seems like this guy is a little unstable and maybe needs to straighten up before he gets to be in the big show.
and like you all, I think it’s hilarious that he calls a guy scared that just slapped the bad right off him!!

Just read a few of your tweets and I find you to be quite the Cynic. Based off of the things I’ve read, Its clear at the weigh ins Dustin was upset at the threat, then during his post fight interview explanation of the situation, Dustin mentions the comment made from brandao. The 2nd half of the store most didn’t pick up on was that Dustin was making a scene based of jumping on his feel and strong eye contact (imagine someone does that to you at a bar/hotel). I can see brandaos point. Besides, EVERYONE is scared of entering the octagon. So Poirer came in scared and goes to war, then comes out victorious. Just because Brandao made an observation on Dustin’s behavior, doesn’t mean Dustin wasn’t scared. Learn a little about Psychology, Jack ass.

So you spend your day creeping on peoples twitter accounts reading everything they post so you have ammo for arguments…….interesting.

        • GRYMER says:

Is it really hard to make a few clicks and read a few words? If you consider that an all day affair, then that is……interesting.

Hey duche, firstly I don’t think you know what the word “cynic” means. secondly, my opinion is mine, and I’m entitled to it.
Thanks for checking in on my posts, I appreciate the help ensuring that my posts are up to par and fully acceptable to idiots like you.

He did nearly ko Poirier a couple times in that fight. Dropped him if iirc. Brandao is really misunderstood.

  4. Graham Powell says:

What a douche. Poirier looked at you wrong?? At a weighin?? NO! This guy is delusional. YOU dont make weight. YOU threaten to stab him. HE was scared. and HE got lucky. Please go away, guys like you Diego are an embarassment.

  5. B-Double says:

Dustin got “lucky”? I’m sorry, Brandao got dominated from the opening bell. I didn’t like him when he was on TUF and I definitely don’t like him now.
