VIDEO | Chael Sonnen Not Buying Tyron Woodley Helping Floyd Mayweather Move to MMA

By Drake Riggs - March 16, 2018

“Tyron Woodley says he is preparing Floyd Mayweather for MMA. Right out of the gate I have to tell you I don’t buy it.

It’s not as though Floyd’s packing up to go and do a training camp in Missouri. Why would Tyron Woodley pack up and go to Vegas…to train a non-mixed martial artist…for martial arts?

If Floyd Mayweather did any level of MMA or grappling, that’s going to be documented. Nobody can keep the secret anymore. Even in situations where cameras are banned. Cameras always find a way in.

I’m just not going for it, man. I think it’s a publicity stunt by both of ’em. But I tend to hope it’s true. There’s a part of me, I really would like to see that. How fast, how quickly…could a world class athlete, one of the best athletes in the history of the world… How fast could he pick up MMA?”

The teases of Floyd Mayweather in MMA haven’t slowed down much lately thanks to UFC welterweight champion, Tyron Woodley. But Floyd himself also continues to speak seriously about the transition whenever asked about it and has even gone as far to say he would give himself a 7/10 in his wrestling skills.

Woodley and Mayweather apparently have yet to start training together but will “soon”. How much of this will end up being true is still to be determined…as are most things with the usually very secretive and tactfully planned Mayweather.

As for the man sharing his take, Chael Sonnen, he finds himself just one win away from a potential Bellator heavyweight title fight. How insane is that? The former two-time UFC middleweight title challenger will next face the winner of the legendary heavyweight bout between Frank Mir and Fedor Emelianenko.

Do you agree with Sonnen here? What do you make of all this Woodley and Mayweather teaming up talk?
