Bout Between Undefeated Lightweights Ernest Chavez And Elias Silverio Added To Fight Night 42 Card
UFC has added another bout to the Fight Night 42 lineup.
Unbeaten lightweight Ernest Chavez will take on Brazilian Elias Silverio (also undefeated… and also a lightweight, obviously) at the event, which takes place at Ibirapuera Gymnasium in Sao Paulo, Brazil, in May. The headliner for the card is a highly anticipated one, as we will finally see current “TUF: Brazil 3″ coaches Wanderlei Silva and Chael Sonnen meet inside the cage. The two men have been verbally jousting for years, but those verbal disputes turned into physical altercations during the TUF tapings, and should make for an exciting fight.
Chavez won his UFC debut fight in February, squeaking out a split-decision win over Yosdenis Cedeno. Prior to that, he was riding a 6-fight winning streak outside of the organization.
Silverio has won both of his UFC fights, which includes his debut fight in September against Joao Zeferino, and a January bout against Isaac Vallie-Flagg at Fight Night 35. Prior to coming to the UFC, Silverio was riding an eight-fight winning streak.
Here’s how the UFC Fight Night 42 card is looking so far:
•Wanderlei Silva vs. Chael Sonnen
•Paulo Thiago vs. Gasan Umalatov
•Mark Eddiva vs. Edimilson Souza
•Ernest Chavez vs. Elias Silverio
