The Blackzilians Add BJJ Champion Braulio Estima

By Lynn Mitchell:
Grappling sensation Braulio Estima has joined the elite team at Blackzilians in Florida.  Braulio also stated in a previous interview – he plans to make his long awaited MMA debut in July of 2012.

It is apparent that high level BJJ black belts have an impact on the MMA game. Brazilian Jiu Jitsu and cage fighting go back to the birth of the octagon, but Mixed Martial Arts has evolved a lot since then.  We have seen all styles of grappling come into the cage.   Jiu JItsu at the highest level – can make fights very interesting.

Braulio Estima received his black belt from Carlos Gracie Jr. in  2004.  He went on to win the Mundials that same year.  A 3x Jiu Jitsu World Champion, 2x ADCC Medium Heavyweight and Absolute Champion,  Braulio is at the pinnacle of BJJ and brings a wealth of knowledge to the Blackzilians MMA team.   He has been training with number one contender “Suga” Rashad Evans to get him ready for his title shot at UFC 145 April 21 2012 opposite light heavyweight kingpin Jon Jones.

The Blackzilians  are rich with talented fighters such as Melvin Guillard, Jorge Santiago, Miguel Torres, Eddie Alvarez, JZ Cavalcante, Anthony Johnson, former Strikeforce Heavyweight Champion Alistair Overeem and former UFC light Heavyweight Champion “Suga” Rashad Evans.  It’s a great time to be a fight fan and witness the combination of elite MMA fighters and a top level Jiu Jitsu Champion.

  2. Ninja Oreo Dollop says:

Damn, he got some great credentials. Not gonna say I understand or recognize all of them but if he is training with Rashad and the Blackzillians that makes the Jones vs Evans fight more intriguing.

I think he should get in the UFC right away. THIS guy is a beast on the MAT’s. it is a garrrrontied bo! ah… lol

  4. James Stenbeck says:

This is an “elite camp”? Their combined record in fights is barely .500, and they’ve already had two guys get cut from the UFC – Jorge Santiago and Anthony Johnson – plus Johnson has been involved in a major scandal along with Miguel Torres and now Alistair Overeem.

And Mike van Arsdale thinks he’s better than Greg Jackson. What a laugh.

I feel sorry for Rashad Evans. He laid down with dogs, and is about to wake up with fleas – and when he does wake up he will be coaching a Division 3 wrestling team somewhere, like two years from now.

Yes James! A team rich with talent but also ridden with fighters who left previous teams because they either blamed their coaches or didn’t want to listen to them. Hey, they found a home where no one bothers them now. Team record now? Anyone. Please provide
