BJPENN.COM Heavyweight Top 10 (Updated 10/26/11)

The world top 10 heavyweight rankings according to the panel at BJPENN.COM consist of all UFC and Strikeforce fighters.
Cain Velasquez is the current UFC heavyweight champion and as such gets the number one seat on our rankings system. His undefeated reign of terror makes him undisputedly the number ranked heavyweight today.
Little has changed since our last publication of these rankings. In fact, the entire top 5 remains untouched. With little heavyweight action in the past few months, the majority of our roster holders remain the same.
The most notable change is the loss of our previously ranked number 9 fighter, Fedor Emelianenko, on our top 10 following his first round defeat at the hands of Dan Henderson. Additionally our number 6 heavyweight fighter, Antonio Silva, has also has been removed following his one round destruction at the hands of rising star Daniel Cormier.
With his recent UFC Rio win over Brendan Schaub, “Big Nog” returns to our top 10 in the 9 position and Daniel Cormier makes his debut in the 10 spot.
The two losses and two new faces caused a slight reshuffle in the deck, but the remaining eight heavyweights still hold slots on our top 10 rankings.
The BJPENN.COM staff has analyzed recent activity and all around performance inside professional competition and broke down to the 10 heavyweights in MMA as follows:
1: Cain Velasquez (UFC HEAVYWEIGHT CHAMPION)
2: Alistair Overeem
3: Junior Dos Santos
4: Fabricio Werdum
5: Brock Lesnar
6: Shane Carwin
7: Frank Mir
8: Josh Barnett
9: Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira
10: Daniel Cormier

sounds about right.
You are friggin dilerious! How does Fedor not make that list?? 3 total loses on his career!! You all are high! I am so disappointed
Dumbass son, it’s top Heavyweight’s right now, not of ALL-TIME. Don’t get your panies in a bunch.
lol.. Fedor is waaaay out of this list! His wins in Pride are history he hasnt fought and won to anyone since Nogueira.. Fedor is not top hw anymore.. Sorry.
Yeah he also forgot put Ken Shamrock and other leyends of the sport on that list (sarcasm)
yeah where’s the Beast?
The list is for the current top ten hws not the top ten all time. Any other fighter who drops 2 fights in a row would drop out too.
top ten heavyweights in better order.
1.JDS
2.Cain Velasquez (I still think hes # 1 but JDS did KO him so i give him alot of credit.)
3.Shane Carwin (definitely better then brock happened to get to excited and gased out)
4.Brock Lesnar
5.Overeem (depends on his fight with lesnar)
6. Noguiera (even losing to Mir 2 times he impressed me more than mir did even with the win mainly because of his striking)
7.Mir
8. Josh Barnett
9. Cormier
10. Werdum (his last fight was so terrible if i put him in a matchup with any guy in the ufc i do not see him coming close to winning).
lol if Werdums last fight was “terrible” Reems last fight was “terrible”
okay and thats why he is at #5 and not #2 because he cannot beat any of the guys above him with the exception of possibly brock lesnar. And Werdum does not even make my top 10 list i just used the same names as the original.
Top 10 lists aren’t based off who would beat who tho.
your list sucks really bad tho. No offence definitely not in “better order”
top 10 heavyweights.
1. JDS
2.Cain
3. Brock
4. Carwin
5. Overeem
6. Mir
7. Mitrione
8. Noguiera
9.Kongo
10. Barnett
Is that better for you because JDS is obviously the champ, Cain killed EVERYONE besides JDS, Brock is lucky he can take 1000 punches to the face or lay on people to get a win, Carwin beat everyone in the first round besides Brock ( who he was murdering but still lost which is a loss) Overeem has not proved himself at all and k-1 and Strikeforce are NOT THE UFC and i would be very surprised if he even beats brock, Mir has proven himself, Mitrione is an up and comer but is a very talented fighter but still has to prove himself against the big names. I think the rest go without saying. Lets hear your list if you are so smart and know how to put a great top 10 list together based off of idk what if its not based off of who beat who or who WOULD beat who then.
shane del rosario??
im sorry but dos santos is def the #2 heavyweight in the world
Yep, swap JDS and Overeem and I think it’s perfect.
yep agreed….
yup
props to BABY FACE ASSASSIN!
**** that roid monkey, he should be banned from fighting in America period, even if he is good he had his chances and got caught using multiple times and Robert, fedor is not really that good right when he started fighting bigger names he started losing he’s a fun fighter to watch tho,
When did he actually got caught, by which atletic comission. Please give me a link to a credible source (no forum with rumours please, I have seen them enough. )
didnt the UFC strip him of the title for steroids ?
These rankings are crap… Who has overeem beaten? And werdum is washed up…. Lesnar is going to smash overeem as would carwin
agreed overeem shouldnt be number 2
I dont see how Werdum is #4. I guess cuz he beat Fedor and kind of hung with Overeem even though he was floppin around like a catfish half the time. Terrible showing from Overeem by the way.
i would put junior over overoid other than that good list
1: Cain Velasquez (UFC HEAVYWEIGHT CHAMPION)
2: Junior Dos Santos
3: Alistair Overeem
4: Brock Lesnar
5: Josh Barnett
6: Frank Mir
7: Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira
8: Fabricio Werdum
9: Shane Carwin
10: Daniel Cormier
shane carwin would SMASH everyone up until #2
I say mitrione makes the list.
nope
i agree too. He would definitely beat Werdum and some of the other guys. But he just hasnt been around long enough yet 1 or two more bigger name wins and everyone will be on his dick like these kids on Fedor’s.
The real list is:
1. Fedor Emelianenko
2. Alistair Overeem
3. Brock Lesnar
4. Junior Dos Santos
5. Shane Carwin
6. Cain Velasquez
7. Frank Mir
8. Matt Mitrione
9. Cheick Kongo
10. Roy Nelson
BAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!!
Sor….. BAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!
If Fedor beats Monson id consider put him in top 11-20 list lolz
BWAHAHHAHHAHA!
That’s hilarious. I heard FEDOR gets the title shot against Tank Abbot after he beats Monsoon! Solid…..
M1 Global presents FFC (FedorFightingChampionships) Fedor vs Alltheoldguys
so tank has a belt?!?!?!?!
Your list is hoooooorrrriible. Fedor (did you not see him just get beat). Alstair (never fought top competition). Brock Lesnar (did you not just see the underfaker get pwned by Cain…) Cheik Kongo (sorry but he can’t see a top 10 list with binoculars). Roy nelson (fighters are supposed to be on here, not the punching bags they train with…) YOUR LIST……(about as REAL as Jenna Jameson’s boobs)
lol ur dumb enough to believe that i was being serious. i was clearly just trolling. why the hell would i rank the champ at 6 and have Brock ranked ahead of him? lol and 8-10 was thrown in there bc i knew it would get ppl mad. lol and it worked!
oooh, you’re an evil genius buddy. pat yerself on the back.
where’s big country?? lol
I think Mitrione deserves a spot on that list. He’s on a roll lately. In fact they should have waited until Sunday to update it. Should Mitrione win he should be somewhere near the mid top. Thats just my opinion. Also Overeem is way overrated on that list.
Two more high profile fights and he should be on the list. Maybe hook him up with the winner of Roy vs Cro Cop or Mir vs Noguiera. This is only if he can beat Kongo…..
Forget all that other stuff I said, Meathead vs Travis Browne should be his next fight if he survives Kongo.
how the hell is werdum number 4? thats just plain retarded. jds is number 2 and overeem 3 until he beats somebody. werdum shouldnt even be in the top 10.
Looks good to me. Anyone remember when Phil Davis said ” BJ would scrap with Overeem, I wouldn’t but BJ would!” PENN NATION!!!!!!
1: Cain Velasquez (UFC HEAVYWEIGHT CHAMPION)
2: Junior Dos Santos
3: Alistair Overeem
4 :Brock Lesnar
5: Fabricio Werdum
6: Shane Carwin
7: Frank Mir
8: Josh Barnett
9: Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira
10: Daniel Cormier
This is the first time I ever agreed on a top ten ranking system on Penns site.
Dont forget to change that top 10 when Mitrone wins.. He will be champ one day.. Mark my words..hehehe
marked…aaaand now unmarked. Dude won’t be champ big guy. Mitrione is a good fighter, but he get his ass handed to him (bad) if he ever met with top fighters.
mitrione will be able to compete with just about any of these guys and hes better then half of the list already there buddy.
how is the reem not #2 he is the dream hw champ the strkeforce hw champ the k1 champ he is the best hw stricker period
With the long layoff for Carwin he might drop further down the list in the upcoming months. JDS will be number one come Nov 12th.
Daniverapv’s Un-Professional Top 10 HeavyWeights
1. Velasquez
2. Dos Santos
3. Overeem
4. Lesnar
5. Mir
6. Carwin
7 . Nogueira
8. Cormier
9. Barnett
10. Werdum
Mir was killed by Carwin!
That is true but Mir is on a win streak and Carwin is on a losing streak thus the ranking. Bottom line Lesnar is a case of too much too fast, He never earned his tiltle shot and has been top 5 since and really never earned it. Got great potential but will not amount to anything as long as his striking takes a backseat to wrestling and strength training. Carwin will be back and be a real threat too, he needs to work on his wrestling and use it to avoid faster opponents like JDS.
Totally agree with this list. I see Lesnar and Overeem tied at 4 and their fight is for the # 3 position. I see Mir and Nogueira to fight that winner for title shot. Fedor had his Glory days, not saying he is done but not top ten….right now at least. He is gonna do some smaller fights and get some W’s then he may be back. Not ever for UFC though. Werdum needs at LEAST one more major contender to be top 10 but I can see # 10 lack of competition. Lots of up and comers 2012 will be a year of great heavyweight fights I bet.
Dont be stupid, not one of these fighters has 2 straight losses, if Lesnar losses to Overeem putting him at 2 striaght, he should be dropped from the top 10…..BUT he’s marketable for ANY org/website/magazine so he’ll always be on top 10 and prolly top 10 of all time which is a slap/spit/cum in the face to the other 9 who EARNED that spot.
Won’t happen because Carwin is coming off two losses and he is still on the list. One to Brock and most recently by JDS…. Man it was hard to watch Carwin take a beating like that to a JDS who wasn’t even trying.
I understand your anger toward Brock. The UFC built up Brock too fast and he should fight lesser opponents than Overeem who has ample amount of MMA fighting experience. I hope he can pull off a miracle like he did facing Carwin.
Daniel Cormier will be advancing up this list very soon. I can see him beating most of the upper guys and he’s still improving
Josh Barnett should be ranked higher then Brock Lesnar. Say what you want about him but he has proven more in the sport and is on the rise again as a must watch fighter.
1. Junior
Why is brock even on the list???? he has only had a few fights and his last fight really displayed his true skills
He beat Mir and Carwin who are on the list. Taking a punch to the face should be skill.
Big Country should take Carwins spot, Big country not even in the top 10 thats crazy !
what are you smoking and pass it this way… i like big country but he is not top 10 heavyweight. And Carwin was smashing Lesnar, Knocked Mir the **** out and before lesnar no one even made it out of the first round… So quickly people forget Carwin is the 3rd to last name i would take off this list.
What about me?! I’m still good right? I mean, I lost to Hendo… But he’s not a heavyweight, that shouldn’t count against me =*(
Dana, please give me a shot. I’ll do TUF. But only if you let my manager and M1 co-promote it and stay in the house.
If Brock lands one of those hooks on Overeem he’s Reems going down. He may not have the technicality but he has to hit hard has hell.
In a couple weeks its gunna be….
1. JDS
2. Cain
3. Reem
4. Lesnar
5. Mir
6. Carwin
7. Nog
noone else matters
Are you serious? I guarantee Sergei, Cormier and Barnett will be coming to the ufc soon and any of those guys could fight for the ufc belt.
could fight for the belt and lose.. therefore they dont matter
mir got smashed by carwin. and Reem is overhyped. other than that i agree.
Usually I don’t find much to complain about with these lists but this HW list is bollox Reem cannot feature above Dos Santos who has to take the number 2 spot. Werdum features too high on this list he couldn’t cut it with the big boys in the UFC – remember the Dos Santos fight…..Josh Barnett (past it) and Daniel Cormier! don’t make me laugh. Apart from a kockout of Silva who has he even fought? Oh yeah a 40 year old Jeff Monson who hasn’t fought in the ufc for like 5 years. IMO – current top 10 is:
1. Cain
2. Dos Santos
3. Overeem
4. Brock
5. Carwin
6. Werdum
7. Mir
8. Mitrione
9. Nog
10. Nelson
mitrione lol jujutsu player your an idiot
Overeem before Dos Santos?! interesting..
1. Cain Velasquez
2. Junior Dos Santos
3. Alistair Overeem
4. Josh Barnett
5. Brock Lesnar
6. Fabricio Werdum
7. Shane Carwin
8. Frank Mir
9. Daniel Cormier
10. Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira
Ummm. . . Mir and Lesnar are jokes…. Never top 10!!
um this isn’t the hottest big gay men’s list of 2011 this is a list of mma fighters so…. it isn’t a current list without those two.
overeem won k1 wgp i no this is not mma but good names none the less. hes big and has a backround in wrestling so would be hard to man handle him and i dont see any one being a better striker than him in the HW division. We will soon see how he stacks up in the ufc i think he should have stayed with golden glory though
Cain Velasquez UFC HW champion.. LOL
Cain must run this site and still wants his glory on bjpenn.com
Cain and Overeem lovers..
