BJ Penn tops Anderson Silva’s list of all time greatest fighters

During Tuesday’s media teleconference call to promote UFC 162, longtime middleweight champion Anderson “The Spider” Silva (33-4 MMA, 16-0 UFC) was asked to name the four greatest fighters in MMA history, pound for pound:

“In my opinion, B.J. Penn is No. 1,” replied Silva. “And then Randy Couture, Chuck Liddell and then Royce Gracie.”

1. BJ Penn
2. Randy Couture
3. Chuck Liddell
4. Royce Gracie

Anderson is set to put his belt on the line against Chris Weidman (9-0 MMA, 5-0 UFC) next Saturday in the main event of UFC 162 live from the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Penn is not even close to being top 10 greatest of all time. Top 5, what a joke!

GSP will never have the balls to fight anyone outside his weight class. BJ beat the hell out of GSP in their first fight and was given up almost 30 lbs. Go back and look at GSP’s face after the first round and all he did was lay on BJ for rest of fight. GSP went to the hospital for his busted nose and caved in face. BJ went to his after party and didn’t even look like he had been in afight.

GSP is afraid to fight anyone who is 15 lbs less than he walks around at before his weight drop for weigh ins. GSP wouldn’t even be top 10 if he fought at his walk around weight like fighters like BJ and Hendo

Not to mention GSP is the most chemically enhanced athlete in world as MMA has no drug testing in Canada and NO commission tests for HGH, EPO’s, hcg, Victor Conte designer steroids (undetectable) EVERYONE knows GSP has been on PED’s his entire career and that is why his body has been falling apart. A sports trainer told me a good indictation of long time steroid users is they tend to have groin pulls/ abductor tears, ligaments are weakened by the massive artificial strength gains over years. NOONE gets injured more than GSP has his entire career. NOONE milks a ACL injury for 18 months other than GSP. His boy ROIDY is following in bhis footsteps dropping out of 3 figts in last 2 years at 23 yrs old.

  3. Dan Jenkins says:

    5. Chuck Liddell

That is F**KING AWESOME! To see one legend respect another like that. I always say aside from Anderson that BJ is the GOAT… without a doubt. Its not just about records… its about overall package… being a true warrior, true FIGHTER, heart, will, being a true champion, a true legend… and that is exactly what BJ PENN is to this sport of MMA. Its awesome to see the greatest pound for pound fighter to ever the planet to recognize that about The Prodigy! Those are my two favorite fighters of all time, Bar None. Team Penn & Silva for Life! ***RESPECT LEGENDS***

  6. Drew says:

Anderson’s always been about bj and always will be

  7. dustin hunter says:

for current achievements for where they are…
    1. anderson
    2. jon jones
    3. fedor
    4. gsp
    5. randy/chuck/bj

i dont think any other list makes sense.
the top 3 are almost interchangeable.
but gsp hasnt been as impressive as that top 3.
and dont even say aldo… he hasnt fought one legend.

  8. HelpMeRhonda says:

Anderson’s a true fan of the sport, and nailed the question because he understood “all time”, and answer although Penn and Couture are pretty close. Now, how about Penn vs Silva, or even Penn vs Couture after Couture settles it with Segal, yeah!!!

  9. jay says:

BJ is very easily top 5 and my my pick for # 1 as well. His accomplishments elevate him to this position…BJ in his prime was considered the best pound for pound in the world…haters cannot deny

  10. Hendoo says:

randy couture and BJ penn, what do they both have in common? They both went to other divisions and became champions, something that the “greats” such as GSP is afraid to do. I do like GSP, but I hope Hendricks drops him good, maybe he’ll realise he needs to finish fights again.

  11. yeahrightman says:

1 and 2 Fedor or Anderson depending on who’s style you prefer, 3 BJ Penn, 4 Royce Gracie, 5 John Jones.

  12. Twayne says:

BJ PENN,, easily top 5 G.O.A.T.

  13. Keiko says:

Ko loss to hughes Lost 2 times to GSP(threw in the towel) and two times to a natural 45’er frankie in his prime?

  14. Kikoi says:

Not to mention completely embarrassed by Rory! And they both submitted to vada testing and both came back clean… So don’t try usin the he cheated or havin ur mom with ya at court to testify. He just plain lost! What he was to tall? Frankie was too fast and too small? GSP is too strong?

  15. jobert says:

Seriously, im sorry, but why is Bj penn one of the greatest? who was his greatest challenge and number of title defence? i agree with two weight class champion but it was handed to him on a silver plate biasly.
