Bisping vs. Belcher Official for UFC 159 Co-Main Event | UFC News
A middleweight clash between two veteran fighters is scheduled for the co-main event of UFC 159: Jones vs. Sonnen. Michael ‘ The Count’ Bisping (23-5) will take on Alan ‘The Talent’ Belcher (18-7) in a fight that both fighters are looking to capitalize on as they are both coming off of losses.
UFC 159 takes place April 27th at the Prudential Center in Newark New Jersey. The main event for the card will be a light-heavyweight title fight between Jon Jones and opposing coach on The Ultimate Fighter, Chael Sonnen.
Bisping is coming off of a TKO loss to Vitor Belfort on January 19th on the UFC on FX 7 card from Sao Paulo, Brazil. Bisping was promised, with a win, a shot at Anderson Silva for the middleweight belt but is now plunged back into the deep waters of the 185-pound title picture.
For Belcher, a December loss to Yushin Okami at UFC 155 acted as a brick wall to Belcher’s title hunt as he was quickly emerging as a top contender in the division. With a win over Bisping, Belcher has a chance to break into the top-5 rankings while also starting a making way for a potential winning streak, as Okami broke the four fight streak he previously rode.
Earlier this week, the UFC confirmed three more bouts for the April card in the form of three promising bouts. A lightweight tilt between Jim Miller and Pat Healy showcases Strikeforce crossover Healy taking on hard-headed UFC veteran, Jim Miller; Phil Davis meets Vinny Magalhaes in a light-heavyweight bout; and Roy Nelson takes on Cheick Kongo.
These three fights, along with the co-main event featured in this article will likely serve as the main card for UFC 159.

Told you it was all down hill for Bisping, was hoping he’d get Alan or Weidman next. Let the trash talking begin Micheal.
Downhill???? He’s the co main event!!!Bisping despatches belcher with relative ease.
How will Belcher get despatched with ease? His only loss recently were to Okami and Amkiama which was a robbery. Belcher is going to win this imo.
From the main to co main and back to the prelims! After Belcher finishes Bisping.yes I said finishes him! Bisping will have gone 3/4 in his last 4 fights hence down freakin hill!!!
I’ll take a gentlemens bet that Bisping beats Belcher. Let’s change MMA and do respectful settlements I’m tired of all this shit talk argument.
Belcher will tap him!
This is what I don’t understand about the division. All of the top guy in the division have and will face each other in 2013, yet one particular person seems to continue avoid every possible opponent. He is the coined the #2 guy in the division. How is that possible?
Easy days work for bisping return, great match up for him cant wait to see belcher fall further down the rankings
This is BS,Since Hector Lombard is publicly calling Bisping out.Danas probably protecting him again by not letting him fight any one with KO power, since he’s coming off a TKO loss.
Good theory, you might be dead on, although I remember Bisping and Belcher having some bad blood going back some. I agree Lombard is a threat with his power but I was unimpressed with his debut, terrible footwork, i personally would have Bisping as the favorite in that fight. Maybe that’ll be the next match up building Bisping back up to the title shot…
@KID433.. how is putting him against alan belcher protecting him? alan belcher is a tough fight for michael bisping.. & hector lombard is fighting yushin okami next so be quiet.
Hector is fighting okami already since they are both coming off a win. so why would they schedule bisping to scrap a guy already in a upcoming fight duh!
