Bisping Hoping To Get Chance At Title On His Return From Injury And Thinks Sonnen Will Be Champion | UFC News

Michael Bisping in an interview with HD Net’s “Inside MMA”.
Bisping comments on the injury that forced him to withdraw from the fight with Tim Boetsch and he predicts a quick recovery after his surgery.
“Yeah, left knee. Slightly torn meniscus. I had some loose bodies — two rather large pieces of cartilage floating around inside. I had what they call, ‘fraying of the knee’ inside. It’s general wear and tear. So they went in, repaired the meniscus, removed the loose bodies and cleaned up the knee, somewhat. That was last Wednesday. I’m still in a lot of pain, limping around a lot. But I’m hoping, within a few weeks, I’ll be back in the gym, so I can fight ASAP.”
Bisping comments on his injury and states it occured during a wrestling practice.
“Every time I’ve injured myself, it’s always been through wrestling. Don’t get me wrong, when you spar and when you’re kickboxing, you might hurt your hand every now and again. You might hurt your shin or whatever, but that heals up in a few days. Any time I’ve injured myself, significantly, it’s always been through wrestling. I tore my posterior cruciate ligament in 2006, wrestling with Georges St. Pierre — five days before the final of The Ultimate Fighter (TUF). Since then, I’ve always had a bit of a ‘dicky’ left knee, so to speak. To use an English term.”
“I was just wrestling and I felt a bit of a tweak. The next day it was sore. I was using that as an excuse to my girlfriend to make her move around the house and get me drinks, get me this and that — ‘Babe, I got a bad knee.’ But I really did have a bad knee. I was laying in bed one night, and it was clunking. I said, ‘listen to that,’ and you could hear the clunking. The next morning, when I woke up, I couldn’t move my leg and there was a bit of an injury.”
Bisping went out running after injuring his knee to test the injury and says his knee gave out three times and he knew something was seriously wrong.
“The two loose bodies that they found in there, sometimes they would be fine. But they’d move to a certain area, when I’d try and bend the knee, it would maybe catch under a tendon or something like that. So sometimes it would be completely fine, and other times, my leg would just give way. I went running that morning, and by the time I got to the end of the street, I’d collapsed three times. That’s when I knew, something is severely wrong here.”
He also comments on when he would like to return as well as giving his prediction for the Anderson Silva vs. Chael Sonnen rematch.
“I wanna fight ASAP. Obviously, it depends on the knee and how well it goes. But I’m gonna do everything in my power to ensure that I can train, ASAP, as I said. I’d love to fight on the first of September card. That may be too quick. I know Hector Lombard’s now fighting Tim Boetsch. He’s gonna replace me there. So they’re busy. Chael Sonnen’s fighting Anderson Silva. I think Chael wins that fight. At least I think. The first fight is gonna give him a lot of confidence. The way he fought, handily for four and a half rounds. I think he’s gonna go in there with a lot of confidence and do the same thing, but not get submitted in the last round. After that, Chael’s gonna need someone to challenge him, and I mean, who is there? Vitor Belfort’s injured. I mean, who are the challengers? I was fighting Chael for the number one contender. Just because I narrowly lost that fight doesn’t mean I go to the back of the pile. So I’m hoping to fight for the title. Hopefully, I’ll get the knee correct, and then they’re gonna need a challenger. I’m here, ready and waiting.”

Why do people keep thinking that chael almost beat silva fair & square!!? His was high as **** on trt!! GSP aside, Chael Sonnen has the best double leg in MMA. He didn’t get it from trt, so whether he’s on it or not, he still has a weapon that Anderson has no answer for. If Chael was a “bitch” for the 3 seconds he was in the triangle, what does that make Silva? He was dominated like a helpless 12 year old girl for 22 minutes! Four plus rounds of domination suggests a performance that is repeatable. A last-minute, hail mary triangle does not. That answer your question as to why I KNOW Chael will win, dumbass?

Yeah, just like it was “obvious” that Silva was going to win by TKO last time, right? Also, there’s a difference between “taking punishment” and being tossed around like a helpless girl. Big Country took a lot of punishment when he lost to Dos Santos, but he wasn’t driven into the floor 6 times or hit 300 times like Silva was. The term that comes to mind is bitch-slapped. Chael did the slapping, so guess who’s the bitch? There won’t be ANY TKO from Silva because he’ll be on his ass the whole time. He’s got Zero ability to stop Chael’s takedown.
Anderson lost most that fight yes but in a fight his doctors told him not to take. Dana made the dude fight after some shitty performances and even Anderson himself said he didnt want the KO. Sonnen disrespected Nog and Silva wanted the submission so for 4 and a half rounds Chael tried like hell to beat his ass and just like in the first Paulo Filho he got caught. Anderson will show his game in this fight and knock Sonnen out in the 2nd round

Your Wrong GSP as good as he is, Isn’t even close to Sonnen’s ability. GSP would have NO chance against Sonnen. He would take him down at will and GSP would have a tough time taking him down. But I wish GSP would go to 85 before he retires. He wouldn’t be champ but he would be top 5 and easily beat Silva…He knows that and so does Silva.
the champ does have an answer for phael’s doubleleg (which is just as good, if not better than gsp’s)….it’s called a triangle choke…
being dangerous from his back is an aspect of his game that phael has no answer for…phael’s never had an answer for ju jitsu players who are dangerous from their back…hence all those submission losses…
It wasn’t about the drugs, it was about the technique. We have seen Chael fight like that against many people which is why I’m saying this. Out of everything he said before the first fight the only thing true was “I have 2 plaques that say I can take Anderson Silva down”.. PED’s or not, Chael is strong and can take anyone down he wants to. I hope out of everything Silva is training, he better be putting huge focus on takedown defense because that’s going to be the game changer.
I agree. That fight wasn’t all about the TRT. Silva supposedly, purposely came in with an injury and that was his first excuse. Someone who keeps the pressure in fights rather than keeping a slower pace or distance themselves seem to throw him off. He’s use to people being scared of him lol.
He didn’t purposely come into the fight with an injury! He got the injury but still fought and if u watched the fight, u see him favoring his ribs.. Sonnen goes for a takedown u see silva lightly try to defend.. Even when he walks to his corner every time he is holding it and in pain. But what he purposely wanted to do was submit sonnen and accomplished it because he knew sonnen would eventually leave an opening like he has few times before against JJ guys!

You’re kidding right? TRT makes it do you can train longer, recover faster, and just have a higher tolerance for anything, especially when you’re almost 3x’s the limit. That “dominance” (which was more of Sonnen humping Anderson in his guard) was mostly te TRT. When Chael went against bisping he basically looked exhausted and lost at his own game and took a bullshit decision. Without the TRT Chael isn’t the athlete he claims. He’s completely delusional, and anyone buying into his shit is just as blind as he is.

So let’s see if I understood this interview correctly, is Bisping seriously hoping that his next fight will be a title fight against Chael Sonnen?! That makes absolutely no sense at all. Bisping lost his last fight, he needs to realize that. He missed his next scheduled fight because of injury so by no means has he earned the right to get a title shot against Sonnen if he wins Anderson. Are his training partners or manager putting these crazy ideas into his head or is he just deluded?
