Betting Odds: Silva, Rousey, Barnett tabbed favorites at UFC 168

Anderson Silva, Ronda Rousey, and Josh Barnett are the oddsmakers’ favorites heading into Saturday’s UFC 168.

Other notable favorites include: Jim Miller, Dustin Poirier and Uriah Hall.

Betting on MMA appears harder than it is.

The folks at mixedmartialarts.com explain it like this:

Unlike a spread on a football game where one team is getting a certain amount of points (ex. Saints +7), in MMA fights the line on the game is called a money line.
Ronda Rousey (-800)
Miesha Tate (+550)

In this fight, Rousey would be the favorite, meaning if you bet $800 on Rousey and she wins, you’d profit $100. If she were to lose though, you’d lose the full $800.

If you were to bet on Tate at +550, if you bet $100 on Tate and she wins the fight, you will profit $550. If Tate were to lose the fight, you’d lose your original $100 bet.

Depending on how people are betting on the fights, the odds will shift from the moment they open up right up until the night of the fight.
