Betting Odds: Anderson Silva Opens As Favorite Over Chris Weidman | UFC NEWS
According to BestFightOdds.com, Anderson Silva has opened up as the favorite against Chris Weidman at UFC 162. This comes as no surprise as the king of the Middleweight division is undefeated in the Octagon. Below you can see the line where Anderson Silva (-278) is the favorite over Chris Weidman (+222).
Challenger Chris Weidman, also undefeated in the Octagon and riding a 9 fight win streak, is coming off of wins against Demian Maia and Mark Munoz. Silva is looking to defend the belt he has owned since October of 2006. UFC 162 takes place on July 6 for the Independence Day weekend Pay-Per-View at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Line seems low to me. I thin Weidman’s the worst matchup Silva’s EVER had in the UFC… But still he’s anderson ****ing silva. If Weidman gets to about +350 to +400 I’ll make a big wager. But if Munoz couldn’t get up from under Weidman, Silva certainly can’t, and Chris on short notice was never in “real sub” trouble vs Maia … MMA math never adds up, but I just like this matchup for Chris.

First, its been pretty easy betting on Silva to win because he wins every time since being in the UFC. But I am going to give my prediction and state why. Here we go. And no, I am not trolling here. First, lest you forget, Weidman took the Maia fight on short notice. Hell he didn’t even train for that fight. Maia is no slouch and Weidman was NEVER in trouble of being submitted. So yes a short notice win over Maia is something to brag about, even if it was close. You know Maia is better on the ground then Silva. Why do you think Silva wanted none of that with Maia? You have also seemed to have forgotten that Munoz could not get Weidman off of him, and you think Silva can? Munoz is much better wrestler than Silva will ever be. So Weidman has a better ground game than Silva by far and he’s faster and stronger than Silva and you think he has no chance??? C’mon now! Silva does hit hard and is great at reading people. But, barring this and/or an illegal knee to the face to a grounded opponent, Weidman should handle Silva fairly dominantly. Silva has gotten old and he is a tad slower and less hungry now. I see Weidman taking Silva down. Silva’s time is close to being up.

And I don’t understand where you get the information that Weidman is faster and stronger? Because he beat Maia by a bullshit split decision in one of the most boring UFC fights ever? Or Munoz? Do you have any idea what Silva did to Maia? Or what he would have done with Munoz if Munoz showed up to fight him in the same bad shape as he fought Weidman? Munoz had a spare tire around his waste, totally out of shape so no surprise he couldn’t get Wiedman off.
It was ab illegal knee. The video clearly shows Silva’s knee in Sonnen’s face. I don’t see how you can contradict this fact. Once again, Silva fans always forget that until that illegal knee, Sonnen was WINNING that fight. All Silva did was dance around Maia and was scared to engage him. What exactly did Silva do to Maia???? Do you consider head faking and hip swiveling as a technique to fight? Munoz was hurt, but on his worst day, he would take Silva down and keep him down. Silva sucks on the ground and Weidman is an elite wrestler. So where is the advantage? Just accept that Weidman WILL take Silva down easily and when he does the end will be near for Silva. Silva is ****ing old and he has lost a step or two.

In the world of MMA you can’t just pick a fight and say this guy will win. Weidman is a tough fight and the UFC is running a risk by letting AS fight him. The guy will be 38. They’re not going to make any real money off of him because they’re taking too many chances.
