Benson Henderson Wants Eddie Alvarez In The UFC | UFC NEWS
The UFC lightweight champion is a busy man; he has an upcoming fight with Strikeforce’s last 155 lb. champ on April 20th, but that hasn’t stopped him from setting his sights on another former champ.
Henderson thinks it would be a great idea to bring former Bellator lightweight champion Eddie Alvarez over to the UFC. Bendo was quoted as saying “I hope Eddie makes it to the UFC,” said Henderson during a recent fighter Q&A. “It would be great to have him over, he’s a tough fighter. I’m a pretty big fan of Eddie, I love his fighting style. He’s a great fighter, a ex-world champion, he’s awesome. He would definitely up the level of competition. As a fighter, you want to face the best. The better fighters we have in the UFC, the better it is.”
Alvarez though has a fight he must win first, as he is in a legal battle with Bjorn Rebney and Bellator Fighting Championship after they matched the contract offer from ZUFFA and the UFC. The legal fight could hold up Alvarez from making his octagon debut for a while, however if and when he makes his he has an opponent in Henderson ready and willing to take him on.
