Ben Askren vs. Jay Hieron Set for October 29

Bellator Fighting Championship has decided to put up their welterweight title up for grabs on the same exact night that the UFC is putting up theirs, October 29.
In one of the most high profile Bellator fights to date, champion Ben Askren will look to defend his title against recent tournament winner Jay Hieron at Bellator 56.
Bellator 56 is set to take place from the Memorial Hall in Kansas City, Kan. On October 29th and will feature the welterweight title fight between Askren and Hieron in the evenings main event.
Askren was last seen in April in a victory over Nick Thompson in a non-title matchup. He is currently 5-0 in the Bellator organization, which includes winning the season two Bellator welterweight tournament and besting Lyman Good to earn the Bellator welterweight title.
Hieron is a former UFC, Strikeforce and IFL fighter who has struggled to stay active over the years. With a less than complementary fighting style his drawing power has come into question time and time again. With that being said, he did walk through the competition to win Bellator’s most recent welterweight tournament and earn the shot at Asken’s belt.

Heiron should have lost all 3 of his fights in Bellator IMO. He ran away from his opponents and got his ass handed to him bad. Brent Weedman kicked Herions ass all 3 rounds and the score should have been 30-27 Weedman. I am convinced Bjorn Rebney fixed those Herion fights just like he did the Frausto, Warren fights. Askren is about 10 times better than he gets credit for from all the UFC NUTHUGGERS. Askren is by far easily the best welterweight wrestler in all MMA. Most people just can’t comprehend how someone like Askrens wrestling could be so far and away higher level than the Fitch’s (LAY N PRAY) or GSP. Askren is not a lay n pray wrestler at all like Fitch or GSP when he gets in trouble. Askren never stops improving his position and he is so dominating that he blows right thru bjj blackbelts and he makes ALL other wrestlers look like they don’t belong on the mat with him. Askren has called out GSP on many occasions saying he would mop the floor with GSP in a wrestling match. everyone is always saying how great GSP’s wrestling is the best in MMA but the truth is GSP isn’t even in the same stratusphere when it comes to Askrens Olympic caliber wrestling 2 x D-1 national champ. i would love nothing better than to see Askren mop the floor with someone like Fitch’s face. Jake Sheilds is on Y-tube giving an interview while and after training with Askren and he says about Askren that you are looking at the future UFC Welterweight champion. Jake is a very high level wrestler himself and he was blown away by how friggen awesome Askren is.
