Bellator’s Rampage vs. King Mo Scuffle Staged?
After Rampage Jackson celebrated his second victory in the Bellator cage at Bellator 110, he and “King Mo” got into a scuffle that was certainly heated, if not over the top. However, when Sherdog.com reporter Jack Encarnacao asked Mohegan Regulatory Head Mike Mazzulli if any potential commission punishments or sanctions placed on the fighters as a result, Mazzuli claimed that there would not be, because he was informed of the event in advance, saying ” I’ll review it. Highly unlikely I will fine anybody. No one got hurt. It was just a push…I was told about it, I was told about it yesterday at the weigh-in, and that’s why there would be no cause and effect to it.”
While some viewed this as a sign that the whole shouting match may have been staged, when Encarnacao interviewed Bellator CEO Bjorn Rebney after the event, Rebney explained the situation, stating:
“No blows were thrown…guys just got really amped…They hate each other, they don’t like each other, and that’s going to come out…we always try to put all of the cards on the table with the commission and said ‘Look, if Rampage wins and Mo wins, or if Rampage wins and Zayats wins, we’re going to do what we typically do which is put the two guys that are going to face each other in the tournament finals in the cage together.’ We’ve got all kinds of ops guys there, all kinds of security there, but you know, post fight, one guy just knocked another guy out, amped, completely at the highest level of intensity, but we’ve got guys that could jump in and get in between them, and that’s what happened.”
