Barnett vs. Cormier Grand-Prix Finale Set For May 19

After being put off for the past several months due to an injured finalist, the Strikeforce Heavyweight Grand-Prix Finale now has a date for its conclusion.
Finalists Josh Barnett and Daniel Cormier have agreed to face off in the tournament finals on May 19, live on Showtime.
Strikeforce officials announced the pairing during last Saturday’s “Strikeforce: Tate vs. Rousey” event.
Josh Barnett has forced his way through the tournament and into the finals with back-to-back wins over Brett Rogers and Sergei Kharitonov, both of which he won by submission. Barnett has not suffered defeat since losing to Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira at PRIDE shockwave in 2006.
Cormier is an undefeated heavyweight fighter hailing from San Jose’s team AKA. He was originally put in the tournament as an alternate, but got the call to enter against Antonio Silva last September where he took out the former EliteXC heavyweight champion in the very first round.
The winner of this bout will be crowned the Strikeforce Grand-Prix champion and will be put into one more match under the Strikeforce banner to solidify their rank before the division is closed and moved entirely into the UFC.
