At 43 Wrestling Superstar Kurt Angle Still Considering MMA | MMA NEWS

“The hard part about it is, Dana and I never had a problem with money. I met with Dana different times — two times, to be exact, where I went out to Las Vegas to sit down with Dana White. I even took the UFC physical. The problem was the starting date. He wanted me ready in four and a half weeks, and I didn’t think I could be ready at that particular time. I didn’t want to go in there unprepared or halfhearted. I didn’t want to embarrass myself. I wanted to be at my best. I wanted three to six months, but he couldn’t give me that. I respect Dana White and his decision. I hope he can respect my decision as well.”

“I would have done MMA if I would have known it would have blown up the way it did. In 1999, I joined WWE, then I went to TNA. If MMA had blown up at that time, I would have done it, full time. I would have gone into MMA. But, I was so far into it, main eventing Wrestlemanias, that there was no way I could turn back. I do love pro wrestling, and I love being with TNA, but when I look back, I don’t regret it, but it just wasn’t the right time. The money was in pro wrestling.”

“I think ‘King Mo’ is a natural, because he’s got the charisma. But, he’s got to learn the techniques. He actually has called me, every other week, asking me, ‘When will the soreness go away?’ Pro wrestling is very grueling. You take a lot of punishment. I think Bautista is a special talent. I think he’s gonna do really well in MMA. He wasn’t an amateur wrestler, like Brock Lesnar or Bobby Lashley. But, I think Bautista will do really well. He’s a tough kid. He’s got a great knockout punch. I know that, for sure, because I was up in WWE, and I’ve seen him have a couple of fights.”

“I can’t say yes or no. I’m 43. I tried out for the Olympics, last year, and I kept getting injured. It’s one of those things where, I was wrestling great, I think I could have made it, but I just kept getting injured. I’m 43. My body’s breaking down. The answer is probably no, but if the offer is good enough, you never know. Kurt Angle might be in the MMA Octagon.”

Wrestling superstar and Olympic medalist, Kurt Angle, recently sat down with MMA Uncensored Live to talk about his thoughts on all things MMA related.

At his age, and after reading his accounts on injury would making the crossover to MMA be a good choice for the aging athlete?

Sound off Penn Nation!

  1. H-bomb clinic says:

I would like to see him in the cage be it at UFC or strikeforce Before they absorb it into the UFC it’s future looks Grimm already with the recent cancelation, do what they did with Hershel Walker give him a couple fight deal and see where he’s at if, see if he’s even talented enough to be in the UFC and have each fight back to back since he doesn’t have many years left against say Babalu Sobral Gegard Mousasi or thierry sokoudjou

    I’d ppv that

    • You’re fucking retarded! Don’t even put Gegard Mousasi next to Sobral and Sokoudjou. Mousasi would murder Kurt Angle. What the fuck is wrong with you dumbasses that think they know MMA? Kurt Angle is a PRO WRESTLER, pro wrestlers are grown men that get paid to play fight each other. Mousasi is a true MMA warrior with 32 wins and only 3 losses knocking out over half of his opponenets and submitting another third. Mousasi should be fighting dudes like Anderson Silva. Putting him up against Angle? Wtf do you think this is? A fucking carnival? Fuck outta here with ya bullshit. You got your right to an opinion, but please don’t share dumb shit like ever again or I’m gonna send my Grandma to cut ya hands off.

  2. Too old to start. Give me a break.

  3. CanILive says:

    Kurt vs. DC lolol

  4. danny says:

I would love to see Kurt compete. Just give him a fair fight against Matt Hugh or someone like that. Not a young killer.

Kurt will never be UFC champ but it would be really cool to see him fight.

    • Randy Couture was UFC champ at 46. Why would Kurt not have the same shot at 42? Makes no sense bro

      • gouldx87 says:

Randy didnt start his career at the age of 42 lol, you cant just wake up one morning and decide to be a world class MMA fighter, Angle would get hurt badly in the UFC. Also there is no way in hell that kurt angle would be able to fight matt hughes. Angles juice monkey body is way to huge to ever consider welter weight or even middle weight

  5. Ian says:

I think Kurt would have definitely been a champion if he had entered MMA directly after his Olympic win. Sadly, it’s much too late.

  6. Chris says:

Kurt Angle vs Joe Rogen, I would def pay to see that fight.

  7. Bill says:

I would love ot see him vs Randy Cotoure

  8. Eric says:

I think Kurt would do just fine in MMA, he has great wrestling so he’ll be able to take down most of his opponents and just beat them up, now will he be a champion? Maybe if he was younger but not now, either way I think he would do good against some of the guys at Heavyweight or light heavyweight where ever he fights.
