Assuncao Loses UFC 170 Opponent, Wants Title Shot Instead

American Top Teams, Raphael Assuncao, has just lost his opponent for this month’s UFC 170 event.

Fresh off a win over T.J. Dillashaw, the number 5 ranked bantamweight fighter thinks it’s his turn to fight for the UFC strap.

He gave his thoughts to earlier today:

“I want my shot against Barao. I’m the only undefeated bantamweight that hasn’t fought for the title yet. I’m the No. 3 in the division. I’ll ask the boss for this fight.

“Dominick (Cruz) is hurt. Urijah (Faber), Eddie Wineland and Michael McDonald already fought Barao, and I can do a different fight with him.”

Assuncao was scheduled to face off with Francisco Rivera, but a broken hand has forced Rivera out of the bout.

UFC 170 is set to go down on February 22, from the Mandalay Bay Events Center in Las Vegas, Nevada.

I still think he needs one more big win, but if you can’t give him a fight, give him Barao! Would be a great fight.

not many options…it really should be tj dillashaw getting the title shot IMO…i feel he beat assuncao…so do many others…it was a pretty horrible decision…w/ that being said, if not tj then assuncao would be the next in line…ideally, dom cruz and barao would fight but who knows when cruz will be back…i guess barao v assuncao on a free card makes sense…dont think that fight is big enough for a PPV unless they stacked the card big time
