Arlovski Calls Out Cormier | Strikeforce News
Frank Mir’s knee injury early this week sets in motion a hunt for a worthy opponent opposite Daniel Cormier. There’s been talks of Fabricio Verdum stepping in to take Mir’s place but via twitter yesterday former UFC heavyweight championAndrei Arlovski states:
“I’m getting a lot of tweets about fighting (Daniel Cormier). And if the fans want to see it, I’m sure we can make it happen!”
Arlovski’s deleted his original tweet from his page. An out pour of encouragement and support floods his twitter account in response.
The heavyweight division is in trouble when any of its members are injured. Leave it up to the “pit bull” Andre Arlovski to step up and ask for a fight with the power house Cormier. A band aid if you will to the thin layer of fighters at heavyweight. A great competitor that will fight any where any time is always welcome.

Arlovski is no slouch, but I think Cormier is one of the best HW out there and a future title holder….Cormier would make easy work of him.
Arlovski’s chin isn’t what is used to be. It seems like his button has been pushed to many times.
Arlovski’s chin is weak since day one he was just a smart fighter with a KO power. He can still win a fight with Cormier he has nothing to lose anyway.

More like suicide. Not even a fair competition. 3 minutes would be a generous estimation with pitbulls chin. No doubt Andre can box with the best but he will get hit and he hasn’t looked good since Fedor beat the chin off of him.
**** this, I have already bought tickets to this event and there is no way in hell I am going to this show to watch washed up ass Arlovski, or any other 3rd rate fighter. Werdum sounds like a good opponent at this point. As long as its somebody in the UFC I’ll be fine.
Cormier’s not that good from what we’ve seen, people need to stop overrating this guy, seriously. I personally think if Cormier tried to stand with Arlovski that he would get knocked out. Arlovski might not have the best chin, but his technical boxing would work Cormier’s basics. Either way, it’s the perfect gauge to see if A) Arlovski can still compete against top competition without getting KOed, AND B) if Cormier can deal with good striking, as he it outclassed with the technical striking, but could KO Arlovski with a halfway decent power punch.

You sir are an idiot. Cormier is a stud. You mustve missed him completely owning Josh Barnett, and Bigfoot. Barnett is one of the best HWs in the world. A stupid steriod issue has kept him out of the limelight. Cormier is by far the best wrestler in MMA, hes quick as a LW, and has some serious KO power. Do some research TARD
I want to see him fight someone at least ranked in the top 10 of the UFC heavy weight division to see how good he really is. I think werdum would definetly be a really good challenge for him. If he fights arlovski and beats him no one is going to care and if he lost to him then that wouldn’t look so good for him going into the UFC

Everyone comments on Arlovski’s weak chin, if you take a step back and look at the situations in which he gets knocked out his Defense is the major problem. Anyone who takes big shots at heavy weight is going to sleep those men are HUGE and full of power. Arlovski consistantly blocks punchs with his face he doesnt use good head movement or footwork to avoid taking shots. I agree that his chin is pretty much gone but if he utilized a bit more defense in his striking he would do better in fights then he has. Also his game plans are poop, he fights from terrible spots in the cage.
